Karbonn A7+ vs Micromax A87 Superfone Ninja 4: Which is a Better Budget Android Smartphone to Buy?

The high-end Android smartphone arena is growing very competitive as popular global brands are coming out with their high-end products in the market. However, not all the consumers can afford to buy such smartphones shedding a lot of money.

When it comes to the budget Android smartphone market segment, there is no difference as both local and global vendors are constantly adding new products to the existing and booming Android family. With the increasing number of low cost Android smartphones in the market, it is a pretty difficult task to choose a best smartphone to buy.

Talking about the recent budget Android handsets released in India, Micromax, a local tech manufacturer, who is on a spree of splashing low cost Android smartphones and tablets into the market in order to occupy the second largest handset vendor position in the country has released the dual SIM A87 Superfone Ninja 4 in August with a price tag of Rs 5,999.

Recently, Karbonn another India based handset vendor also released a dual SIM budget smartphone – A7+, which is an upgraded version of A7 released a couple of months. Priced at Rs 6,990, Karbonn A7+ has the capability to pose a threat to the Micromax offering.

Hence, Gizbot has come up with a spec comparison between the two smartphones - Karbonn A7+ and Micromax A87 Superfone Ninja 4.

Display & Dimension: While the dimensions of A7+ remain undisclosed, A87 Ninja 4 dimensions measures 124.8 x 64 x 11.7 mm.

Talking about the display, A7+ sports a 3.5 inch capacitive multi-touch HVGA display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels.

In comparison, A87 Ninja 4 houses a 4 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.

Processor: In this segment, A7+ packs a powerful 1GHz processor while A87 Ninja 4 comes with a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

Operating System: Being budget smartphones, both run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, an older version of the platform.

Camera: When it comes to camera optics, A7+ sports a 5MP rear camera with dual LED flash and a front facing VGA camera for video calling.

On the other hand, A87 Ninja 4 packs a 2MP rear camera and lacks a front facing camera.

Storage: While A7+ is equipped with 512MB RAM, 157 internal memory, A87 Ninja 4 does not have a default storage option. However, both the handsets have a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable memory.

Connectivity: In terms of connectivity, both A7+ and A87 Ninja 4 are packed with features including micro USB 2.0, Wi-Fi features, 3G and Bluetooth.

Battery: In this segment, A7+ is loaded with a 1,420 mAh Li-ion battery and A87 Ninja 4 is equipped with a 1,400 mAh Li-ion battery.

Price: On the pricing front, A7+ is priced at Rs 6.990 and A87 Ninja 4 is available for a lesser price tag of Rs 5,999.

Verdict

Being budget smartphones both are packed with similar specifications and are priced competitively to survive in the budget-conscious Indian market.

When it comes to Karbonn A7+, the smartphone is preloaded with many other features including G-Sensor, Proximity Sensor, light Sensor, MMS, handwriting recognition and voice assisted GPS navigation.

At the same time, A87 Ninja 4 has more software features including the preloaded Aisha voice assistant – the Apple Siri-like technology in a budget smartphone.

For consumers who are prefer a better camera resolution along with a front camera can opt for the Karbonn A7+.

However, if the concern is on the price of the handset and like to own one with a larger display, the Micromax offering could be the right choice.
