Karbonn Smart A2 Spotted at Flipkart for Rs 4,990: Will You Buy A Dual SIM Gingerbread Smartphone?

While the budget smartphone arena is switching over to Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean operating systems, Karbonn Mobiles has come up with a Gingerbread based smartphone. The new handset dubbed as Smart A2 is a dual SIM smartphone with an attractive price tag.

Though not officially officially announced by the company, however the handset was spotted at an online retailer - Flipkart with a price tag of Rs 4,990. Hence interested buyers, who are looking forward to use a smartphone with basic smartphone functions at a budget price tag and are not really concerned regarding the version of the operating system, Smart A2 could be a right choice.

According to the listing on Flipkart, below are the specifications of Karbonn Smart A2.

Display: Smart A2 packs a 4 inch capacitive touchscreen display with undisclosed resolution.

Processor: The handset is powered by a 1GHz processor under its hood.

Operating System: When it comes to OS, Smart A2 is based on Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread operating system, which is an older version.

Camera: The handset has a 3MP rear camera and a VGA front camera for video calling.

Storage: Smart A2 packs 202MB on board storage, 256MB RAM and a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable storage.

Connectivity: In terms of connectivity features, the Karbonn offering comes with features including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and micro USB 2.0.

Battery: Smart A2 has a 1,750 mAh Li-ion battery of undisclosed backup.

Karbonn Smart Tab 2 is preloaded with applications such as Facebook, Twitter, Google Talk, LinkedIn, We-chat, Whats App, Gmail, YouTube, Play Store, News and Weather Update.

As of now, Smart A2 is priced at Rs 4,990 and it can be purchased via online retailer Flipkart. However, going by the usual strategy of Karbonn, the handset could be announced officially by the end of January 2013.
