The 4-inch Lava Iris 408e may not be as ravishing as Moto G, but for Rs. 3,829 it is definitely common man's smartphone.

The handset primarily target at mass consumers, therefore, the retail price of this phone matters a lot. The Iris 408e does not come with 3G connectivity support, an important feature which you cannot ignore that easily.

Coming back to its core specifications, the device comes with a fairly large 4-inch display having a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. It is powered by a 1GHz single-core processor, backed by 265MB of RAM and 512MB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot.

On the imaging front, there is a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera with an LED Flash. Also add a VGA quality front-facing camera for attending Skype calls. The makers have added a 1,500mAh Li-po battery fitted inside. Thus, it is expected to give 5 hours of talk time and 8 days of standby time to the users.

The phone is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. We would have expected the device to run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.

Other connectivity options include: 2G (EDGE), Wi-Fi, FM Radio and A-GPS, amongst others.

If you are not convinced with the Iris 408e due to lack of 3G SIM support, then there are other options available in the market.

In fact, the Lava Iris 356 is far better option in our prospective. Even though it incorporates a 3.5-inch display, a slightly smaller display compared to Iris 408e, but its internal specs are in better shape, notably, a 1GHz dual-core processor and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. The Lava Iris 356 can be yours for Rs. 4,099.
