Lava Iris 455 Now Available at Rs 7799: Top 5 Jelly Bean Budget Handsets Now in Danger

One company interested in shooting the market with constant launches is Lava International. The vendor launches something or the other every Friday under its Blockbuster Phoneday scheme. Early this month, Lava came up with a Jelly Bean dual SIM smartphone dubbed as Iris 455.

At the time of launch, there was no information on the price and availability of Iris 455, however, it was informed to GizBot that the price would be less than Rs 10,000. Well, now the handset seems to be available online. Yes, Saholic, a popular online retailer has listed the Iris 455 at a price of Rs 7,799 and claims that the orders will be shipped in three days from the date of purchase.

Specwise, Iris 455 comes with a 4.5 inch qHD IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, 1GHz dual core processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 4GB internal storage, 512MB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, 5MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, VGA front camera for video calling, 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and a 1,500 mAh battery offering 6 hours of talk time.

The dual SIM smartphone market space is highly flooded with a plethora of offerings, especially in the sub Rs 10,000 price range. As Lava has launched Iris 455 in India at Rs 7,799, the company is sure to step into a tough competition with the other dual SIM Jelly Bean smartphones in the similar price bracket. In January, Karbonn Mobiles launched a quad core dual SIM Jelly Bean smartphone called S1 Titanium. The handset went on sale in March with a price of Rs 10,290. As far as specs are concerned, S1 Titanium features a 4.5 inch qHD multi-touch capacitive touchscreen display with 960 x 540 pixel resolution, 1.2GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal storage, micro SD card slot, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 1,600 mAh battery.

Though S1 Titanium is priced slightly higher, it comes with a quad core processor and a slightly better battery as compared to Lava Iris 455. However, for the price conscious consumers, Iris 455 at Rs 7,799 could be a better offer.

Micromax has announced the launch of a dual SIM Android ICS smartphone dubbed as A91 Ninja online at a price of Rs 8,499. Specwise, A91 Ninja houses a 4.5 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, 1GHz dual core MediaTek MT6577 processor, 5MP auto focus rear camera, 0.3MP front-facing camera, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, which is expandable up to 32GB with microSD card slot and a 1,800 mAh battery.

Anyways, A91 Ninja comes with Android ICS, while the similarly features Lava Iris 455 has Jelly Bean OS out of the box, which will improve the user experience and bring more software features to the handset.

Pune Based tech firm has launched Byond B63 with a 4.5 inch 960 x 540 pixels qHD display, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB in-built memory, expandable memory upto 32 GB with microSD, 8MP rear camera with autofocus, VGA front camera, 3G, WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth and 2,000 mAh battery.

With a price tag of Rs 9,999, Byond B63 might be a potential rival to Lava Iris 455 a faster processor, better rear camera performance and improved battery capacity, but Iris 455 is cheaper at Rs 7,799.

Intex Aqua Wonder

Intex has jumped to the bandwagon of making Jelly Bean smartphones by launching Aqua Wonder in February with the launch of Aqua Wonder. The dual SIM handset has a 4.5 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, 1GHz dual core processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 512MB RAM, 2GB internal storage, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, 8MP rear camera with dual flash, 1.3MP front camera for video calling, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and a 1,800 mAh battery delivering up to 3.5 hours talk time.

Priced at Rs 9,990, Intex Aqua Wonder with a a better camera performance and enhanced battery could be a potential rival to Lava Iris 455, but the latter is priced relatively lower.

iBall Andi 4.5Q

iBall Andi 4.5Q

Andi 4.5q is the latest dual SIM built on the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS. The handset has been listed on online retailer Infibeam.com at a price of Rs 11,490. Detailing on specs, Andi 4.5q has a 4.5-inch qHD capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and 245 ppi pixel density, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 1GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, micro SD card slot, 8MP rear camera, VGA front camera, Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth and a 2,050 mAh battery.

With a lesser price tag of Rs 7,799, Iris 455 could be a great budget offering, but iBall Andi 4.5Q comes with better battery and camera performance.
