Lava Iris Pro 30 Hands on: First Look

On the imaging front, the Iris Pro 30 is not the best camera phone around. To prove our point, we compared rear-facing cameras of Lava Iris Pro 30 and LG Nexus 5. Both devices have an 8MP rear-facing camera with Auto Focus and an LED Flash. It should be noted that the Iris Pro 30 comes with a dual-LED Flash. In a brief time, we snapped some pictures using both phones, and the result was pretty much expected.

The Iris Pro 30 did not live up to the expectations, though, Lava promised some breakthrough photographs during the unveiling ceremony. The pictures taken with Iris Pro 30 were too average, with a lot of noise. We will find more about the Iris Pro 30's camera in a detailed review soon. Also, add a 3MP front-facing camera for taking selfies, though, we didn't get enough time to test out camera.

In the hardware department, the phone uses a 1.2GHz quad-core processor powered by MediaTek chipset, backed by 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, which can be expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card slot. During our testing, the device performed without any lag, but we would be happy to see inclusion of better chipset. During the event, questions were raised around the internal memory. The 4GB of internal memory given by the manufacturer appears to a setback for consumers. Though, the company has a different take on this matter.

The Iris Pro 30 is powered by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. Even in this age, the phone uses an old version of Android. The company may release the latest Android 4.4 Kitkat sometime in the near future, but we were left disappointed for sure.

Other specs include a 2,000mAh battery fitted inside. Lava says that on a single charge the phone can deliver non -stop entertainment up to 14 hours.

Conclusion

The Lava Iris Pro 30 could have been better, if the makers were concerned about internal hardware. Of course it is difficult to sell a flagship phone just by beautifying your product. Any consumer would think twice before investing his/her money on Lava Iris Pro 30. But the company has taken care of important elements like battery and apps in the Iris Pro 30 which will make the phone a good and stylish purchase under the range of Rs 16,000.
