All the smartphone manufacturers are in a hurry to update their handsets with the latest Android OS versions and manufacturers like Sony are on the verge of rolling out the same update to its number of handsets.

Chinese handset maker Lenovo on the other hand has already released the Android KitKat 4.4 update for its Vibe X and Vibe Z devices. The Lenovo Vibe X was initially launched with Android 4.2 and Vibe Z with Android 4.3.

Moreover, to allure the customers, Lenovo has also cut down the price of the Vibe X smartphone to Rs 22,999. Initially the device was launched for Rs. 25,999. However the phone is already selling for as low as Rs. 19,999 via online retailers like Flipkart and Amazon. The price of the Vibe Z remains the same.

According to the company, the KitKat update for the devices will bring better application compatibility, security enhancements, bug fixes, user-interface improvements, new dialler app, better autofocus and white balance capabilities in camera, improved Lenovo power manager for better battery utilization, and enhanced multi-tasking.

Talking individually, after you update the Vibe X with Android 4.4 KitKat, it will bring application compatibility along with further security enhancements and bug fixes. The UI gets a new look with lesser icons and improved incoming call interface. As said earlier, the update will bring about a better camera features like auto focus and white balance. The update is also said to improve Lenovo power manager for better battery utilization (15-20% enhancement in its performance).

In Vibe Z, Lenovo says that the 4.4 KitKat update brings better 4k video playback compatibility. It also upgrades the quad-core CPU for considerably better UI transitions and multi-sensory user experience, and makes the process of adding widgets to the home screen easy.

The multi-window mode on the Vibe Z allows the user to open and work on multiple apps simultaneously and re-size them on the screen better than before. Also, enhanced notification access, wireless printing capabilities, updated theme centre, and automatic profile changer are the part of the update.
