Lenovo S920 In Depth Review: Punchy Performer, Stunning Entertainer
Settings
Music and Videos
The preloaded Google Play app is great for all your music needs. Coupled with the provided in-earphones, music playback was great. We even enjoyed playback on the speaker, though we felt that it could have been louder.
Watching HD videos is a treat on the device's 5.3 inch screen. Playback was smooth and the device displayed some exceptional performance in this department.
Battery
Lenovo had to take into account that the phablet's battery would have to support some strong hardware, two SIMs and a large 5.3 inch HD IPS screen. For this, they've provided the S920 with a 2250mAh large capacity battery, which was a good move. Despite heavy data usage, the phablet's battery lasts for an entire day.
Overall, the phablet's battery is long lasting, reliable and a great fit if you're a data junkie. Also, despite running long and hard, the battery did not overheat or have any issues whatsoever. Lenovo's power app comes in hand in this department, allowing users to tweak specific parts of the phablet to result in better battery efficiency.
Verdict
Overall, Lenovo has done a good job with the S920. The phablet is a good performer. It shines when it comes to multimedia, running power-hungry apps and even with multi-tasking. The phablet's 5.3 inch display is nice and brings out beautiful visuals every step of the way.
Results with the video's camera were good and its video chatting functions were neat. Its battery life is great for those with intense productivity and data needs. The UI is charming and we liked all of Lenovo's little tweaks and cosmetic changes. Call clarity and signal reception were solid, with data performance being good as well.
We were somewhat disappointed with the phablet's build quality. Just like phablets from Samsung, Lenovo's mediocre plastic leaves much to be desired. Apart from this, the device also has those rare episodes of unresponsiveness when it comes to the capacitive buttons. These small shortcomings stop the phablet from delivering a near perfect experience.
It wont be wrong to say that Lenovo's S920 can easily compete and outperform devices like Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos and Sony Xperia SP.
