Lenovo Smartphones Designed by Ashton Kutcher Arriving in 2014
Lenovo made a fantastic start to 2014 with its new Vibe Z smartphone earlier this year. And while the popularity of that smartphone is yet to dissolve, it seems like the company is planning ahead with more new ventures on the way. And one such venture involves actor Ashton Kutcher.
According to reports, Hollywood actor and noted tech buff Ashton Kutcher is helping Lenovo design a line of special edition smartphones that will be launched later this year, as revealed by Lenovo Chief Marketing Officer David Roman.
According to Mr. Roman, Kutcher's role in shaping the company's hardware is authentic. He also insisted that Lenovo's partnership with Kutcher is more than just a publicity stunt and means a lot more to the company and the actor himself.
"I know on one level, it sounds corny, but it is real," said Roman in an interview with Re/code. "He not only sees himself as an engineer, but he is an engineer. If he sees a problem, he wants to solve it." Roman added that while Kutcher won't exactly be working on any of the design circuitry of the smartphone, but the user experience of the phones will very much depend on him.

Kutcher was hired by by Lenovo back in October as its newest product engineer to develop and promote the company's Yoga Tablet line and other mobile products. "This partnership with Lenovo brings together my love of technology and design that makes your life better. I can't wait to dig in and help Lenovo develop future mobile computing products," Kutcher said at that time during the announcement.
Kutcher's expertise will be put to test here as he comes with a degree in biochemical engineering at the University of Iowa before leaving school to pursue a career in modeling, and later movies.
