LG G Pad 8.3: Top 5 Detailed Features of World's First 8.3 Inch Full HD Tablet
After making enough hype surrounding G Pad, the makers behind beefy G2 have finally announced a rival tablet to iPad Mini. Since past few weeks, the South Korean giant had been promoting its G Pad through every possible PR channel.
The tech vendor also uploaded a teaser video featuring G Pad for the very first time, which itself proved that LG would be launching a tablet in Berlin. Now, LG G Pad goes official with an 8.3-inch HD display. For the very first time, an 8-inch tablet having Full HD resolution will hit select markets. Both recently announced G2 and G Pad are premium devices catering to upper segment of the market.
Apart from LG G Pad, there is not a single Full HD tablet comes in an 8-inch screen size. Apple iPad Mini Retina Display is yet to be announced officially, whereas Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8 features HD display. So, in terms of competition, the road is clear for LG to reach out its target audience. Before moving on to price and availability, let's discuss about the detailed specifications of LG G Pad 8.3. Display, Design and Aesthetics
When LG uploaded a teaser video of then soon to be announced G Pad, it was suspected that G2 would the prime inspiration behind company's come back tablet. The G Pad looks similar to G2 flagship smartphone, at least in terms of design and aesthetic appeal. The tablet measures 8.3mm in terms of thickness and weighs 338 grams. One can hold G Pad in one hand, as per LG electronics. The G Pad features an 8.3-inch WUXGA FHD display having resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels at 273 ppi. In reality, LG G Pad display resolution is even higher than a standard looking HD panel.
Processor, RAM and ROM
LG G Pad not only comes with a fantastic FHD display, but it also packs a 1.7GHz quad-core processor powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor. RAM stands at 2GB, making it eligible for the tablet to run all the latest and amazing games available on Google Play store. There's a 16GB of internal memory to store your content. The processor used by LG is not the latest one. In fact, G2 uses the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.
Operating system and UI
Like other latest smartphones and tablet devices, LG G Pad is powered by Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. We were expecting Android 4.3 Jelly Bean instead of regular Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. If you are looking out for a tablet with latest version of Android OS, then one can look forward to the latest version of Nexus 7 as well as its predecessor. LG also bundles some exclusive apps designed to work with G Pad. With the help of QPair app, consumers can sync their smartphones with the G Pad and see the latest update - Be it calls or SMSes on their tablet. Slide Aside, is yet another important highlight of UI , which allows us to multitask in a better way.
Camera
The G Pad also comes with a dual cameras: a 5-mega pixel rear facing camera on the rear and a VGA quality camera on the front for long video chat.
Battery and Connectivity options
The LG G Pad is a solid tablet device with a long lasting batter fitted inside. The makers have added a 4,600mAh Li Ion battery. Other connectivity options include: Wi-Fi, 3G and GPS, among others.
India launch
We're constantly trying to find whether LG G Pad is coming to India in the coming days or not. As of now, our sources say that LG India is still discussing the possibilities to bring G Pad in the market. The most common challenge for them is to set an appropriate retail price. Expect LG G Pad to get launched in India later this year. LG will announce more details and official retail price applicable in US and other countries later this week at the IFA Berlin tech show.
