LG G Pro 2 Launch Date Set for February 13: Top 5 Anticipated Features

Until now, it was assumed that LG's G Pro 2 might go official at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) to be held in Barcelona later this month. Shunning media reports, now it has been made official that LG will launch its much hyped smartphone, the G Pro 2 in South Korea on February 13.

The official ceremony will take place at LG Twin Towers in Yeouido, Seoul, ZDNet Korea reported on Friday. According to a published report, LG has already started sending invites to Korean media. The invites read "Knock-knock knockin' on", which simply means that the G Pro 2 will have LG's own Knock on feature. Beyond that nothing much can be said just by having a good look at the invite.

For quite some time, we have been hearing a lot about the successor to original Optimus G Pro. One of the highlighted features of G Pro 2 will be its high-powered speaker system, ET News notes. The handset will feature 1W speakers, which could be the selling part of the device. There will be a smart listening app to control the whole setup.

Moreover, the LG G Pro 2 might turn out to be a compact handset despite a large 5.9-inch Full HD display. Reportedly, the phone's display is said to be bezel-less, and on the top of it the power/ volume keys are at the rear-back.

Further, the forthcoming high-end phone is expected to have a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) Plus. The new feature will help to minimize picture shake.

However, the core internal hardware specs are still not revealed by any media channel. Multiple reports in the past suggested that the G Pro 2 might stuffed with a 2K resolution display, in order to gain market share before Samsung announces the Galaxy S5. The latter phone reportedly carries a Quad HD display.

Now we are hearing that the handset would come with a 5.9-inch Full HD IPS screen having a resolution of 1920x 1080 pixels. Under the hood, you can expect a quad-core processor powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM, and a large battery life. Most likey, the phone will be powered by Android 4.4 Kitkat with LG's native UX layer on the top.

Many of you may not see the G Pro 2 as a real threat to Samsung's upcoming flagship device, the Galaxy S5. However, the early announcement of G Pro 2 clearly shows that LG's confidence in its upcoming flagship handset, and a burning fire to rule worldwide handset market.
