LG G4: Samsung Galaxy S6 Rival Launched With 5.5-inch QHD Display, Snapdragon 808 CPU
South Korea's major electronics maker LG today unveiled its latest G series smartphone, featuring the hand-stitched leather back option, giving the device more of a premium feel. LG's new G4 flagship smartphone excels in three major areas: design, display and camera.
For years, LG phones have had removable backs made of plastic. Those allowed for battery replacement, but made the phones look utterly cheap. This time around, the G4 has used the hand-stitched leather back to make the G4's design look ultra-premium.

LG says that they spent a considerable amount of time and effort to deliver what they call a "sensible luxury." It takes LG a total of 12 weeks from start to finish, 10 times longer than the production process of the normal rear cover which takes barely 4 days. The G4 will come in three plastic varieties, too, for those who're ready to settle for a plastic version.
In addition to design upgrades, LG has uses its improved Quad HD display with Advanced In-Cell Touch (AIT) technology. LG like to calls it a "Quantum display." Basically, the phone features a curved 5.5-inch QHD display (2560x1220p). According to LG, the display panel is 25% brighter and 20% wider colour-range than conventional QHD screens seen in the recently launched flagship devices.
In a surprise move, LG has abandoned the Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor in favor of the Snapdragon 808 model, probably to address the overheating issues.
Like the G3 handset, G4 features a healthy 3GB DDR3 RAM, 32GB flash memory and a microSD slot for expansion. On the battery side, the G4 uses a 3,000mAh removable battery, which should last at least 14 hours on a single charge.
The G4 handset also features LG's updated UX4.0 user interface. It features a plethora of new features and settings like a quick camera shortcut, RingTone ID, and Quick Memo+, among others.
LG is also touting the LG's camera to be the best in the business. The G4 has a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with an f/1.8 aperture, alongside an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter, which is perfect for selfies. In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S6 features an f/1.9 aperture, while the iPhone 6 is equipped with an f/2.2.
In terms of connectivity, the premium phone features the LTE-A, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, NFC, and microUSB v3.0.
The rival Samsung Galaxy S6, launched globally in March this year, has been accepted well. In fact, Samsung expects the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge to sell as many as 70 million units in 2015.
Compared with the Galaxy S6, LG is offering a microSD card slot, a removable battery and a higher-resolution display on its newest model.
