LG Dreams Big With Optimus Series
As with many mobile phone manufacturers today LG used the strategy of cricket frenzies to its maximum advantage. The LG Optimus One, a popular model out of the LG Optimus series, benefited from the recent success of the World Cup 2011 and the LG Army Campaign. The company"s sales soared during the last quarter by promotions and advertisements during the world cup.
Now LG has come up with even more surprises for its customers. According to the Facebook the current Android 1.6 Donut Operating System will receive an upgrade to the latest 2.3 Gingerbread version. This is an extremely good move because the Gingerbread is by far the most popular and widely used Android OS. The upgrade was made available by the end of May and is aimed at making the phone more attractive to prospective buyers.
The LG Optimus series of phones that are yet to be launched packs in several categories of features other than its Android OS including a much more powerful camera with video recording, high end multimedia features like superb audio and video playback in a large number of formats, easy navigation through simple touch screen menus and so on.
One of the upcoming LG Optimus models is expected to even have a 3D screen that can support playback of 3D content. With 3G round the corner, Indian consumers, especially those belonging to affluent segment will find this quite attractive. This is really amazing because of another reason too - none of the Smartphones available right now in India offer such a feature. A good move by LG!
The phones are aggressively priced in the range of Rs 30000 to Rs 40000. It is expected to offer stiff competition to the high end models of Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung and HTC.
The twin strategy of LG coming up with a feature rich Optimus series and an innovative marketing strategy to promote the same is quite an intelligent move.
All Optimus models are planned for release later this year. Moreover LG hopes to make use of India"s long story of passion associated with cricket and its heroes and their recent promotions to penetrate the minds of Indian consumers. LG is getting bigger in the Indian market with Optimus series.
