LG Optimus G Leaked: Does Samsung Needs To Be Scared?

Smartphone rumor mills are now taking a turn toward LG, as the Koran phone maker is rumored to be working on its next generation Android smartphone dubbed by the name Optimus G. In 2012, LG has already released a slew of smartphone in the market including models like Optimus L3, Optimus L5, Optimus L7 and Optimus 4X HD.

 

Relatively, according to a recent report by AsiaToday, the company's is prepping to launch its most powerful smartphone ever featuring the quad core processor and several other impressive features. Moreover, LG Optimus G is said to directly rival the monstrous Android handset of the year – Samsung Galaxy S3.

 

What to expect from LG Optimus G?

As per Korean website, AsiaToday reports, which has come up with the leaked specifications of the Optimus G, the handset will sport a 4.7 inch IPS True HD display, 2GB RAM, 13 MP camera, quad core processor with VoLTE support (Voice over 4G LTE).

Further, Optimus G is also speculated to run on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich topped by the Optimus UI 3.0, however no information has been revealed regarding the handset's Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update.

Potential Rival to Samsung

It seems like LG is all geared up compete against all the smartphone offerings unveiled by Samsung this year. This can be said, as LG is also coming up with a 5 inch smartphone, Optimus Vu to outsmart the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, which is rumored to be launched at the pre-IFA event on August 29, 2012.

After the latest specifications leak report, it can be definitely assumed that the tech world is going to witness a stiff battle between both the Korean tech giants.

While Samsung is the world's largest smartphone manufacturer, dominating the market with its Galaxy series, analysts assume that if rumors come out to be true and Optimus G enters the market with an affordable price range, it might pose a big threat Samsung Galaxy S3.

Reason being, the leaked specs of the Optimus G are almost similar to those of the Galaxy S3, which packs a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display, a 1.4GHz quad core Exynos 4 Quad processor and an 8MP rear camera, running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
