LG Optimus L1 2: Budget Android Smartphone Now Official, Coming to India By End Of August 2013

After Samsung and Nokia, it's LG turn to rule the ultra low cost handset market. The G2 maker silently announced LG Optimus L1 2 in a latest development. GizBot informed you back in July about this one - the LG's low cost smartphone.

Yes! GizBot revealed exclusively that Steve Koh, Head - Mobile Communications at LG India, indicated that India should be getting Optimus L1 2 around August 2013 between a price range of Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 6,000. Well, as the smartphone has been announced globally, it is to be seen when at what point of time LG brings Optimus L1 2 in the Indian market. According to our sources, one can expect this new LG handset by as soon as August end.

LG Optimus L1 2 Coming To India By End Of August

The LG Optimus L1 2, is set to compete directly with Samsung Galaxy Star and Nokia Asha 501. The phone has a 3-inch display having resolution of 320 x 240 pixels, Qualcomm powered Snapdragon single core processor clocked at 1GHz coupled with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory (expandable up to 32GB via microSD card).

There's a 2-mega pixel rear facing camera and no front facing camera included. The makers have added a 1450mAh Li Ion battery. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean comes out of the box. Other visible functions include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, 3G, 2G, amongst others. The device will be available in two colors including Black and White.

As mentioned above, LG is getting into lower segment to beat Samsung and Nokia. The Finnish giant Nokia is already a champion under sub Rs. 5,000 market. Even Samsung is trying its best by making Galaxy range more affordable.

The Galaxy Star packs a 3 inch QVGA display. Under the hood, there is a 1GHz processor coupled with 512MB of RAM and 4GB internal storage (expandable up to 32GB via microSD card). There's a 2MP camera on the rear back and front facing is absent. Other connectivity features include: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS with GLONASS and a 1,200 mAh battery. Samsung Galaxy Star is now available for Rs. 5,200 in the Indian market.

"At the launch event, GizBot got a chance to interact with Steve Koh, Head - mobile Communications at LG India. The high-profile executive exclusively told GizBot that LG is planning to launch a new budget Android smartphone under budget LG Optimus L Series 1, which might come with a name of LG Optimus L1. It will be an entry level phone and would hit the shelves carrying a price tag of around Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000.

The official also added, that the younger sibling to LG Optimus L3, L5 and L7 will go on sale in India in August 2013. In terms of specifications, the LG Optimus L1 phone will have a 3-inch IPS display along with single core 1GHz processor. The phone will come packed with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box, and may be a dual SIM variant of the phone might also hit the shelves following the former launch."
