LG Optimus Vu: Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Competitor  Launched In India at Rs 34,500

In an earlier report, Gizbot did an exclusive report based on the information provided by an inside resource from LG, claiming that the Korean tech giant will announce a new Optimus smartphone in India this week. The report also informed that it might be the launch of Optimus Vu, analyzing the trend of the latest LG smartphones launched in the Indian market.

Well, it did turn out to be true, as today LG has officially launched the Optimus Vu phablet in India at a price of Rs 34,500. Optimus Vu was initially unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2012 in February and was released in Korea. Also, Optimus Vu has made scoring sales in Korea with over 500,000 units.

Specifications

With the launch of the new smartphone in the Indian market let's take a look at what Optimus Vu has to offer in terms of specs.

Dimensions & Weight: Optimus Vu carries a dimension of 139.6 x 90.4 x 8.5mm and weighs in at 168 grams.

Display: Optimus Vu houses a 5-inch 4:3 aspect ratio XGA IPS display with 1280 x 768 pixel resolution.

Further, the phablet comes with a stylus for annotating documents, drawing sketches and making handwritten notes in LG’s Memo app.

Processor: In this segment, LG phablet is powered by a 1.5GHz quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor.

Operating System: Optimus Vu is flavored with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

Camera: Optimus Vu also has an 8MP rear camera and a 1.3MP front camera for video calling.

Memory: On the storage front, the phablet has 32GB internal memory, 1GB RAM and a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage.

Connectivity: In terms of connectivity, the phablet is packed with features including Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, A-GPS, micro USB 2.0 and NFC.

Battery: Optimus Vu is loaded with a 2,080 mAh Li-ion battery.

Price: LG has priced Optimus Vu at Rs 34,500.

Competition With Samsung Galaxy Note 2

LG Optimus Vu is clearly a competitor to the Galaxy Note 2, the second generation phablet released by Samsung recently with a price tag of Rs 39,990.

Taking about specs, Galaxy Note successor has a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, 1.6GHz quad core processor, 2GB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting 32GB, 8MP rear camera, 1.9MP front camera, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth with A2DP and a massive 3,100 mAh Li-ion battery.

Running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, the Galaxy Note 2 comes in three different configurations – 16GB, 32GB and 64GB internal storage.

Further, the Note 2 has an improved stylus with a rubbed tip for better touch response. Also, the Air View feature of the device lets the users control it by hovering the S-Pen stylus over the display without touching.
