Micromax’s Budget Smartphones: Q80 Vs A70

Micromax now enjoys a comfortable monopoly in the Indian market. They have over 30 different categories of mobile handsets in India and the company has a widespread and dedicated sales and service support. The majority of the company"s fortunes are through the sale of budget priced phones. Micromax is well known across India for making mobile handsets that provide top class features at relatively budget price tags.

Today we peg two of Micromax"s models that are doing a pretty good job in making a wave in the mobile market. The models are Micromax Q80 and Micromax A70.The phones are intended to be low cost Smartphone"s.

Micromax Q80 feature is that it is a Java based phone that runs a proprietary OS designed by Micromax whereas Micromax A70 is an Android Froyo powered Smartphone. The Android OS gives an upper edge to the phone over the former as it is more charge efficient and gives superb performance. The interfaces including the main menu and layouts are far easier to use in A70, all courtesy of the Android interface.

The phones are styled in a contemporary manner with neither of the phone making it big on the looks department. However the full touch screen based display of Micromax A70 is more pleasing feature than the rough and tough rusty look of Micromax Q80.

Both the phones are high on specs in the multimedia and entertainment packages. The phones are equipped with multimedia software"s. This facilitates both audio and video features. The phones have a universal audio jack of 3.5 mm size in common and an FM radio comes as a standard package with both the models.

The camera department is also in favour of Micromax A70 as it boasts of a 5 Mega Pixel rear camera in addition to a front VGA camera for video calling. Micromax Q80 has a small 3 Mega Pixel rated rear camera in addition to the front VGA camera.

Both the models have enough and more connectivity and communication technology solutions that are normally found in top class Smartphone"s today. Micromax Q80 however misses out on the Wi-Fi connectivity option which is found in A70 but both the phones have 3G internet access and Bluetooth.

The final judgement is almost clear now, but we cannot afford to leave the price quotient out of the picture. Micromax Q80 is priced at around Rs 4900 but Micromax A70 is priced at hefty Rs 9000. The huge price difference doesn"t quite make up for the upgraded feature but both the phones are in different league altogether.
