Today we deal with 2 such home grown companies and their entry level Smartphones. The 2 models are the already hot selling Micromax A70 and the upcoming sensation Karbonn A1.
Both the phones have a full touch screen display that is capacitive in nature and have the Android 2.2 Froyo OS running inside. But on the display front it is the Micromax A70 that scores as it has a larger 3.2 inch display as compared to the 2.8 inch of the A1. Both the phones have good user interfaces and neatly arranged icons and menu tabs.
Next we have the camera specs. Here also Micromax A70 is the clear winner as it has a more powerful 5 Mega Pixel rear camera as compared to the 3.2 Mega pixel rear camera of the A1. The A1 also lacks a front camera thereby rendering it impossible to perform video calling which is a highlight feature in the A70. The A70 has a front VGA camera that aids in video calling and or chatting on high speed 3G networks.
The multimedia specifications of both the phones are almost similar with both Karbonn A1 and Micromax A70 offering multi format video and audio playback and recording in a number of well known formats. The phones also come with good quality speakers and have a 3.5 mm universal audio jack to offer connection to external multimedia speakers and also to headsets that are bundled with the handsets. They both have FM Radio in common.
On the connectivity and data transfer side neither of the phones will disappoint you as they are loaded with features such as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 2G technologies like GPRS and EDGE. Data transfer speeds on 3G networks reach up to 7 Mbps in both the mobiles.
The Micromax A70 is priced at Rs 7750 and the price of Karbonn A1 is yet to be finalised. If they are similarly priced then the A70 is definitely the winner as it offers lot more for the same price.
