Micromax A89 Ninja vs Lava Xolo X500: MediaTek or Intel Clover Trail+, Which One is Meant For You?
Currently, the demand for low cost and reasonably priced smartphones with compromise on performance and quality is on the rise. Hence, several global as well as local handset manufacturers have started making such smartphones in order to secure a significant share of the budget conscious Indian smartphone market.
Also, this trend will the manfacturers to establish a strong foothold in the market. Micromax, the leading tablet vendor in India, which is eying to become the the leading seller of smartphones has quietly launched an Android smartphone in India.
The new Micromax offering dubbed as A89 Ninja was initially teased on the company website and then was released online via Infibeam, an online retailer with a price tag of Rs 6,249. A89 Ninja carries the credit of being the first Android 4.0 ICS based Ninja smartphone.
Besides Micromax, there are several companies based in India that are constantly launching smartphones based on Android OS at different price points in order to stay highly active in the Indian smartphone arena. One such manufacturer Lava is on a launch spree as it has come up with the second Intel based smartphone in India.
Lava launched Xolo X500, an Intel Clover Trail+ based smartphone running on Android ICS. Priced at Rs 8,999, the Lava offering is quite reasonable for its specifications. Moreover, the handset has proved that the Intel processor with better performance updates can be incorporated in low priced smartphones.
Hence, Gizbot has come up with the two newly launched smartphones - Micromax A89 Ninja and Lava Xolo X500. Read it below!
Display: A89 Ninja boasts a 4 inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, while Xolo X500 comes with a 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen display with 480 x 320 pixel resolution.
Processor: This is the most interesting segment as A89 Ninja is equipped with a 1GHz dual core Mediatek MT6577 processor, whereas, Xolo X500 is powered by a 1.2GHz Intel Clover Trail+ processor.
Speaking of capabilities, the Mediatek chip features an ARM Cortex A9 processor and PowerVR Series SGX GPU boosts application and browser performance by up to 40% and offers rich multimedia features, good camera features, best dual SIM solution, pre-integrated MediaTek's leading 4-in-1 connectivity combo that provides support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and FM support and more.
When it comes to Clover Trail+ processor aka Lexington, the platform offers impressive performance for quick web browsing and great multimedia experience. With Intel Hyper-Threading technology, which delivers speed of up to 1.2GHz, support 1080p display, two cameras, dual SIM/dual standby capability and more. The chipset is packed with dual core Atom processors and dual core graphic engines.
Operating System: Both the handsets - A89 Ninja and Xolo X00 are flavored with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.
Memory: In terms of memory capacity, Xolo X500 scores more with 4GB onboard storage as compared to 2GB internal storage in A89 Ninja. However, both the handsets come with 512MB RAM and a micro SD card slot supporting upto 32GB additional storage.
Camera: Again, Xolo X500 gets more weightage with 5MP rear camera and VGA front camera, while A89 Ninja comes with 3MP rear camera and lacks a front camera for video calling.
Connectivity: Both A89 Ninja and Xolo X500 are packed with connectivity features including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G.
Battery: While A89 Ninja is loaded with a 1,450 mAh battery, Xolo X500 is equipped with a 1,500 mAh battery.
Price: A89 Ninja is priced at Rs 6,249 and Xolo X500 is priced at Rs 8,999.
Verdict
When it comes A89 Ninja and Xolo X500, both are Android ICS smartphones offering value for the money with pretty decent specs and dual SIM support.
If the concern is on a larger display and relatively lower price tag and not on the front camera for video calling, Ninja A89 should be a right choice.
On the other hand, if the concern is on a faster processor, better camera and increased internal storage, Lava Xolo X500 might be a good option.
