The handset comes dubbed as Canvas HD A116i and is a successor to the previously launched Canvas HD smartphone. It is quite unclear, why Micromax launched this device, as it comes with an exact same features as its predecessor. However, the device is already available on e-commerce website, eBay at the price of Rs. 14,299. However, the company has not formally launched the handset.
Going by the specs, the Micromax Canvas HD A116i comes with a 5-inch display offering a resolution of 720x1280 pixels and a pixel density of 294ppi.
It runs Android v4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS. Moreover the site also says that the company would roll-out an Android 4.2.1 update soon to the device.
Powering the device is a MediaTek's MT6589 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz and a PowerVR SGX544 GPU coupled with 1GB of RAM.
Moving on the the camera segment, the handset boasts an 8-megapixel rear shooter with LED flash and 4X zoom, and a 2-megapixel front-facing snapper.
There is 4GB of inbuilt storage, which is further expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. Connectivity options on the smartphone include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE and 3G. Apart from these, like all the other Micromax handsets, Canvas HD A116i is also a dual-SIM device with GSM+GSM support.
There is no mention of the battery included on the Canvas HD A116i.
Since there are no differences between the predecessor Canvas HD and the latest one, battery is one thing that we would like to rely on. There could possible be more powerful battery fitted in this device. And also that would be the singular difference between the two.
Competition
Since there are number of devices being launched in the Indian market currently, the latest Micromax handset would be facing a number of devces for sure. Among all, Karbonn Titanium S7, WickedLeak Wammy Titan 3, Lenovo P780 would be the most relevant rivals.
