Micromax Canvas Lite A92 Launched Online at Rs 8,499: Top 5 Budget Phablets In Competition

    Micromax has really been moving in a very fast pace. The homegrown mobile manufacturer has made a very impressive impact on the mobile phone world. Specially the Canvas series has brought the brand into more highlight. Not only that, the upcoming Canvas 4 from Micromax has been the most hyped one among all the Canvas series. The constant teaser posted on Facebook and the specs leak has brought it to the close to the international spotlight. The Canvas 4 however, is on preorders as of now.


    And guess what!!! This is not the end to the Canvas series because Micromax recently also launched their device called Canvas Lite A92 on Infibeam. The device now is up for pre-orders on Infibeam one of the popular e-commerce site at Rs 8,499. However, the device should be available at retail stores and online stores over the weekend. The phone was earlier available for pre-booking on Flipkart as well, but the website now mentions that the phone is "Out of Stock".

    To go by the specs, Canvas Lite A92 sports a 5-inch capacitive touch screen display that offers a a resolution of 480x800 pixels. It is powered by a MT 6577 1GHz dual core and runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The phablet is also supported by a 512MB RAM. The Canvas Lite A92 has a 5 megapixel camera with flash. It has an internal storage space of 4GB, which is expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 3G, Bluetooth v4.0, USB connectivity and WiFi. The phablet is powered by a 2000 mAh 4.2 V Li-ion battery.

    However, this midrange phablet may face quite a bit of problems regarding the price range and also the specs. Canvas Lite A92 is very much likely to have a hot battle against devices like Micromax Canvas Viva A72, Lava Iris 501, Spice Stellar Horizon Pro Mi-505, Videocon A45 and Karbonn Smart A111. Moreover, most of the devices mentioned above come with a lesser android version but other specs are quite similar. All the devices fall under the similar price range and most are priced lesser compared to the latest Micromax Canvas Lite A92.

The Micromax Canvas Viva A72 also sports a 3MP rear camera along with a VGA front camera. Connectivity options include 2G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3 and the device is powered by a 2,000 mAh Li-Ion battery offering 280 hours standby and 7 hours talk time.

    Lava Iris 501

    Measuring 148.5 x 79 x 10.5 mm in dimension, Iris 501 sports a 5 inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, 1GHz dual core processor, Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, 5MP rear camera, 0.3MP front camera for video calling, 4GB internal storage, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable storage support. The device has a dual SIL support and comes with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, micro USB 2.0 and a 2,300 mAh Li-Po battery of undisclosed backup. Further, Iris 501 also comes with special built in apps like Hike - for free messaging, Saavn Music player app, Fusion Music organizer app and games from Gameloft like Asphalt HD.
    The handset is priced at Rs 7,699 on Flipkart.

    Spice Stellar Horizon Pro Mi-505

    Stellar Horizon Pro features a 5 inch WVGA screen that offers 800 x 480 pixels resolution. It is powered by a dual-core processor clocked to 1GHz and is backed by 512MB RAM. The phablet runs on the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) platform. The phone has internal storage capacity of 4GB and offers microSD support up to 32GB. The phablet houses 5MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and a 1.3MP camera is placed in the front for voice call. Regarding connectivity, the phone offers features like 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and microUSB. Measuring 9.6mm along the waist, this phone is powered by a 2,100mAh battery that is said to offer 4 hours of talk time.

    The Videocon A45 comes with a 5-inch display with resolution of 480 X 800 pixels, Dual SIM , 1-GHz processor, 256MB of RAM, 512MB of internal memory, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a 3.2-mega pixel rear camera, VGA quality front facing camera, expandable storage , Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 2G, USB 2.0 and lastly 1,800mAh Li Ion battery.

    Karbonn Smart A111

    Dual SIM supported Karbonn Smart A111 features a 5 inch multi-touch capacitive touchscreen display. Thed phablet is powered by a 1.2GHz dual core Qualcomm Scorpion processor and runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS and it it is also supported by a 512MB RAM. It comes with the 4GB internal storage, micro SD card slot, 5MP rear camera with LED flash, VGA front camera, 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi, micro USB, GPS, Bluetooth and a 2,100 mAh battery of unknown backup. The listing also claims that the handset will be preloaded with apps including Skype, Google Talk, Google Play, Play Store, Facebook, Yahoo, NexGTv, PayTM, Google and WhatsApp.
