Micromax Canvas Magnus A117 vs Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro: Midrange Phablet Fight Turns Fiercer
Last week, Micromax's Canvas Magnus A117 was listed by a few online retailers in India. Currently, the mid-range handset from the indigenous phone maker is available from almost all e-commerce sites and the product has been receiving some positive feedback.

Some of you might be considering the handset during this festival season, so before you do pick it up, compare it with the Galaxy Grand Quattro from Samsung which happens to be on the same price point and a touch competitor.
Display
The Magnus uses a 5 inch IPS HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 Pixels. This happens to be much better than the Quattro's lakclusture 4.7 inch WVGA display with a resolution of 480 x 800 Pixels. Its surprising that Samsung believes that it can get away with a non-HD display at this price range.

Imaging
The Magnus houses a powerful 12 MP Primary Camera with LED flash for additional lighting. This happens to be much better than Samsung's 5 MP primary camera. The Magnus also has a better rear camera (2MP) when compared to the Quattro's VGA shooter.

Performance
The Quattro calls upon a 1.2 GHz Cortex-A5 Quad Core processor along with an Adreno 203 GPU and 1GB of RAM. The Magnus takes it a notch higher by using a 1.5 GHz, Quad Core processor along with 1GB of RAM.

Internal Storage & Connectivity
Both handsets offer 3G support and Wi-Fi connectivity. But when it comes to storage, the Galaxy Grand Quattro trumps agead with 8 GB of ROM, which is greater than the Magnus's 4GB of ROM. However, both handsets allow you to expand up to 32GB using micrSD slots.
Pricing
Both phones can be purchased for a price of about Rs. 16,000 or lesser. Even though the Quattro launched at a much higher rate, it's price has now come to a much lower level.

Verdict
In the end, you should base your decision on your preference of brands. While the Magnus A117 from Micromax might have better specifications, Samsung Quattro come's from a more reputable manufacturer.
