Earlier this year Microsoft announced its partnership with a number of indian smartphone vendors and strangely one of the most important brand Micromax was missing in the list. However at the Microsoft's Build Conference keynote the company in fact made the announcement revealing two more partners viz. Micromax and major European player Prestigio.
Micormax, which is yet to make its dual OS (Windows and Android) running LapTab tablet available in India. And before that could happen Joe Belfiore showed off another Micromax device, on stage, at the Build keynote. However, that was a reference device developed with Qualcomm and a ODM manufacturer in China.
Adding on-screen button support and increased chipset compatibility has enabled players like Micromax to join the Windows Phone ecosystem. Thus now India will also get Micromax as well in the Windows Phone market which is currently ruled by Nokia.
While Microsoft has not disclosed any details on the pricing and availability for the device as of now. But th software giant did say that the brand new devices running WP8.1 should be hitting stores in April and early May. So we can expect a new Micromax Windows Phone smartphone very soon in India as well.
One of the best feature that might impress most of the Windows Phone users will definitely be Cortana a rival to Apple's Siri and Google Now. Microsoft's virtual assistant that will help Windows Phone users is a mix of Siri and Google Now. Users will be able to talk to Cortana and ask it to set alarms etc just the way they can do on iPhone with Siri. At the same time, Cortana will also read emails (with permission) and collect information about how a person is using the phone. After getting the required information, Cortana will use it to give you reminders, notifications and messages.
