Micromax Unite 2 Review: A Potential Moto E Killer That Offers What it Promises
- Latest Android
- Interface like Nexus 5
- strong build
- Lot of Bloatware
- Better Camera was Expected
- More Camera options
If you can go back a few years, you will remember how the whole smartphone trend was just starting out. Down the line, we have an entire market that deals in the smartphone business making profits out of it.
The smartphone business in India anyway sees a lot of action with a host of handset makers already settles inside the market. And the numbers keep increasing with more and more new smartphone makers now entering the domain.
Talking about the makers that are currently in the game, there are a host of makers that have now arrived from inside the country to test the market potential. We already have names such as Gionee and Lenovo, while Micromax is already in the race with its previously released Unite 2.
The Unite 2 was unveiled recently for the Indian smartphone market. Backed by Micromax's excellent business startegies for the market, the company has arrived with a lot of potential into a market that remains as competitive as ever.
We have a review unit of the Unite 2 with us. We have been trying out and testing the device for a long time, and have finally come up with a review for the same. Here's a detailed look at the device.
Micromax Unite 2 Review: Form Factor and Operating System
As far as packing the device is concerned, the Mi3 comes in an square cardboard box. The box itself has a minimalistic design with a graphiti of languages made in the box.
Dealing with the phone itself, the device basically sports a manageable screen size of 4.7-inches. And while the resolution isn't much at 800 x 480, but that shouldn't really be a problem since you will hardly come across problems related to pixellation.
As far as the form factor for the device is concerned, you will not really find that great designing that could distinguish the device from others in the market. But being said that, you won't feel that the device has been put together in a hurry. The device feels solid in hand and is good to hold.
The device's left side has been kept empty, while the right edge houses the volume rocker and power button. At the bottom of the device is the microphone, while the top holds the 3.5mm audio jack and Micro-USB port.
The Unite 2's soft-touch back cover offers sufficient grip and helps keep fingerprints out of the context. There's a 5MP camera around the back and a single LED flash.
The device is actually best known for being a Moto E rival and offer the latest Android KitKat OS out of the box. But going deeper into the OS, the company hasn't put any such customization onto the layer of KitKat. In fact, a few of the features (like app tray) actually look like they are straight out of the Nexus 5.
However, we would have been more than happy if the device wasn't bombarded with Micromax's own bloatware. And this is even a bigger deal since all these apps usually direct you to web pages.
Most importantly, the biggest deal with this handset is its support for 21 Indian languages. Micromax also claims that the Unite 2 is the first phone to support so many languages.
