Micromax is one of the growing names as far as native smartphone business is concerned. The company has been around in the scene for quite some time, and it still manages to carry on its business in not only India, but in markets such as Russia and Romania as well.
As of now, the company is heavily in news as it plans on launching a new range of products under the brandname 'Yu' which will be sold and serviced exclusively online starting December 2014. As expected, expectations are massive surrounding the new Yu from Micromax.
We all have been kept pondering about the kind of handsets that could be featured in the list of Yu phones. However, it's high time you gain some kind of detail about the brand. Here are 5 things to keep in mind.
It's an Initiative, Not a Feature
If you understand what Google did with its Android One initiative earlier this year, understanding the Yu branding shouldn't be that difficult. It's an initiative taken by Micromax to offer smartphones, but just with a different branding of Yu. Although the parent company remians to be Micromax.
New Phones on the Cards
While we aren't really sure, but the Micromax-based Yu branding will offer more than just one handset. And that can be understood since it's such a big and new initiative from Micromax. And moreover, it doesn't make any sense if Micromax would have released only a single handset after popularizing the initiative for so long.
Power of Cyanogen
Cyanogen is one of the most advanced mobile operating systems around the globe. Basically, CyanogenMod is an aftermarket firmware for a number of cell phones based on the open-source Android operating system. It offers features not found in the official Android based firmwares of vendors of these cell phones.
There are Cyanogen Themes As Well
Cyanogen has already announced its upcoming Themes app that will act like a store front for Cyanogen OS users to browse and download free and paid themes. But the best news is that the first release of the Themes app will come pre-loaded on the devices from the new YU brand recently launched by Micromax. So excpect lively screens and snappy performance.
It Already Has a New COO
With the Micromax Yu coming around soon, it seems the company is aiming at greater heights. For starters, the company has already appointed Amarinder S Dhaliwal, former co-founder and chief executive of Donebynone.com, as the Chief Operating Officer for the new Internet brand. Hence, expect big things.
