Droid Series Turning The Tides For Motorola
The series boasts of phones ranging from the Motorola Droid to the Droid X3 which is yet to be released but is still making the rounds throughout the online mobile enthusiast community. Now let us take a brief look into how these models turned the tide for Motorola which was for sometime experiencing grave failures in its new models.
The Motorola Droid was the first of this series and was benefited with a good display and faster web browser and it opened up the capabilities of Android OS to the people. However it had several design issues including the somewhat flat QWERTY keypad and the dial pad control being restricted to the home screen. However it was a success.
Next in line was the Motorola Droid X which boasts of a large 4.3 inch touch screen, an ultra fast 1GHz processor and even a 3G network support. The phone also had a 10 Mega Pixel camera with 720p video recording. It had an expandable memory of upto 32GB.
The successor to the Droid X was the Droid X2 which was as its predecessors a complete multimedia entertainment device and packed in an 8 Mega Pixel camera, 3G, Wi-Fi and all other intelligent wizardries you would find in its preceding versions. The OS was Android Froyo with an option to upgrade to Android Gingerbread. It had 8 GB of internal storage and even had an expandable memory of upto 32 GB.
All of the above mentioned phones have enjoyed reasonable success in the Android Segment of Smartphones globally and has somewhat raised the bar of Motorola phones. Motorola is betting big with an assured release of the next phone from the Droid Series the Motorola Droid X3.
The phone is rumoured to have a 5-Row physical sliding keypad (QWERTY) and a large 4 inch High Definition Display. It is expected to be powered by a dual core processor unlike its predecessors and equipped with an HDMI port. It is also likely to have an 8 Mega Pixel camera with 1080P video recording and will be based on the Android Gingerbread Operating Platform. However at this point of time no more details can be confirmed as the company is yet to make an announcement regarding the specs of the phone officially.
