It's been a good year for Motorola Mobility. While the company sold close to 6.5 million smartphones in Q1 2014 it's not a rocket science to judge that majority of the phones sold by Motorola last quarter would be Moto G handset.
Other devices that make Motorola's sales would have been the Droid Maxx and the Moto X. Compared to Samsung or Apple, these 6.5 million numbers may not look big.
For the past three years, we recognize Motorola Mobility as a part of Google. Pretty soon Google will handover Motorola to China's Lenovo group, and the deal will be closed. But until the sale is finalized, Motorola is committed to bring few more great looking handsets.
Motorola's current flagship handset, the Moto G, is expected to retire soon. It is a known fact that Motorola would launch the successor to the Moto X in summers of this year. While the details are unknown at this moment, but in the meantime a new Motorola-made phone has appeared on GFXBench. Early rumors suggest that it could be the legitimate successor to the Moto X.
Motorola XT912A could be Motorola's Next Flagship?
The device in question carrying a model number XT912A is powered by a 2.26 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, Adreno 330 graphics and 2GB RAM. Furthermore, the phone features a 5.2-inch Full HD (1080p) HD display, 12MP rear-facing camera, 2MP front-facing shooter and 32GB of on-board storage. The handset runs Android 4.4.3 OS.
Of course the purported phone might not be capable to give tough competition to the Samsung Galaxy S5 or the HTC One. But still, this Motorola-made phone offers a quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU, and a 5-inch Full HD display.
Again, it seems that the Motorola XT912A might not be the successor to the Moto X. Not long ago, @evleaks revealed that Motorola will launch the Moto X+1 in coming months head. Though, the exact info about the device was not revealed then.
May be the handset carrying a model number XT912A could be a part of Droid series. Droid series is quite popular in the U.S market. Reportedly, Motorola could release a new Droid handset in Q4 2014. The Motorola XT912A could end up being the next-gen Droid handset.
Rumors have it that Motorola is working on a 6.3-inch phablet, dubbed the Motorola XPlay. Apparently, the company is aiming to launch its first ever large screen phablet in Q3 2014.
