Mozilla and Foxconn Reportedly Prepping A Firefox OS Tablet?

Hon Hai Precision Industry which goes by the trade name Foxconn is the world's largest electronics contract manufacturer. The company has notably partnered with Apple to launch products like iPad, iPhone, iPod, PlayStation 3. The company also has a history of partnerships with companies including Nintendo, Sony, Google, Microsoft amongst others.

 
Mozilla and Foxconn Reportedly Prepping A Firefox OS Tablet?

The company has now announced that it will be partnering with Mozilla to launch new device running on the Firefox operating system. Reportedly the two companies will be holding a press event in Taipei on June 3 and there are speculations that the device will be unveiled at this event.

 

Earlier this year, Mozilla announced that it will be working with manufacturers Alcatel (TCL), LG and ZTE to launch new firefox powered phones . Now, according to some tech insiders, there is news that the new upcoming device can potentially be a tablet.

Firefox is looking to enter the mobile device arena full fledged. In April, the company announced that they will be making some big changes to their work force in order to expand their reach into the mobile industry. The company also announced "Phones for Apps for Firefox OS" program, earlier this month which let developers to send proposals for a Firefox App. If the proposal was excepted, Mozilla sent a Keon phone to them to develop the app. Keon is a entry level phone that runs on the Firefox operating system. The device is basically a developer's phone which evidently was unveiled at the MWC 2013.
