Chinese-based smartphone manufacturers have made themselves to fit in the Top 10 rank list of smartphone vendors. The Chinese smartphone vendors are offering tempting hardware for almost half price by mainstream manufacturers.

But, there is still a massive market for unbranded or low quality smartphone from Chinese vendors. These low quality smartphone comes with somewhat similar display size and design. But, you need to compromise for premium features while getting these one. Here are some tips to consider before buying a cheap Chinese handset.
Network Bands
Many Chinese-based handset are probably not intended for use in other regions. Which means the network bands used might not support the carrier. For instance, China's TD-SCDMA network, is like local 3G WCDMA standard and is designed to work only in China.
Chinese Power Plugs
The devices are imported directly from China, and it is quite likely to arrive with a local power plug, which will not work for power sockets in India. However, you need to buy and adapter or just charge them using USB.
No Earphones
In order to keep the price low, Chinese smartphone vendors manufacturers cheap headsets or do not ship with headset along with handset in the box.
Less Internal Storage
Providing very less internal storage in smartphones is another way to keep the price low. Such devices usually comes with option to extend storage using the microSD card. But, the newer version of Android no longer allow you to store app data on SD cards. However, it is recommended to get a smartphone with at lease 8GB of internal storage.
Camera
There are some expensive Chinese smartphone, that comes with some sort of scratch-resistant material on camera lens to avoid scratches. But, low cost Chinese devices tend to be exposed to the camera elements, making it to get scratched easily.
Screen Protection
Almost every smartphone makers are now incorporating Gorilla Glass to protect unexpected scratches on the screen. But, low-cost smartphones by Chinese vendors has very little protecting material on the screen and can easily get shattered or scratched.
Poor Touch Recognition
The smartphone touch sensitivity has been advanced a lot. While, many are concerned about the size and the resolution of the display and not on touch sensitivity. Unbranded Chinese smartphones come with very poor quality touchscreen that lags touch recognition.
Software Support
Major Chinese smartphone maker offer very adequate software support for their handsets. But, unbranded Chinese OEM never support or update the handset software or not even bother with it.
No Google Play Store
Google Play Store does not exist in China, while third-party app store are used to download and install apps. This means, most of the handsets imported from China are shipped without the Play Store installed.
Language Support
Thanks to Android, as it comes with perfect translation tool to get language support from Chinese to English. But, there are devices from vendors that don't even supports languages than Chinese.
