Apple has expanded its flagship lineup with the iPhone 17e, positioned as a more affordable entry into the iPhone 17 series while retaining several premium features. The device is powered by the new A19 chipset, Apple's in-house C1X modem, upgraded camera hardware, and iOS 26, focusing on performance, efficiency, and improved connectivity.

The iPhone 17e price in India starts at Rs. 64,900 for the 256GB model, with a 512GB variant priced at Rs. 84,900. The 128GB option has been discontinued. In the US, the phone is priced at USD 599 (around Rs. 54,935).

Pre-orders begin March 4, with sales starting March 11 across 70+ countries, including India. Colour options include Black, White, and Soft Pink.

Performance: A19 Chip and iOS 26

The A19 processor, built on a 3nm process, features a 6-core CPU, 4-core GPU with hardware-accelerated ray tracing, and a 16-core Neural Engine. Apple claims up to 2× faster performance than the iPhone 11, improved battery efficiency, and on-device Apple Intelligence features for enhanced privacy.

The new C1X modem delivers faster speeds and better efficiency, with up to 30% lower power consumption than the modem in the iPhone 16 Pro. Connectivity options include 5G (sub-6GHz), Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and multi-band GPS support.

Display, Design, and Durability

The iPhone 17e sports a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display (2532×1170, 460ppi) with 800 nits typical and 1200 nits HDR brightness. It uses an aerospace-grade aluminium frame, Ceramic Shield 2 protection, IP68 water and dust resistance, Face ID, and the customisable Action Button.

Camera and Video

It features a 48MP rear camera with 24MP default output, 2× optical-quality zoom, OIS, and Photonic Engine processing. Video recording supports 4K HDR Dolby Vision at 60fps, Cinematic mode (4K HDR 30fps), and Spatial Audio. The 12MP TrueDepth front camera supports 4K HDR video, autofocus, and improved low-light selfies.

Battery, Charging, and Safety

Apple rates the battery for up to 26 hours of video playback. Charging includes USB-C fast charging (50% in 30 minutes), 15W MagSafe, and 15W Qi2 wireless charging. Safety features include Crash Detection and Satellite Connectivity in supported regions.
