Alcatel 5, 3 series phones, Android Go phone, 1T 7 and 1T 10 tablets announced

Alcatel has unveiled a slew of devices at the pre-MWC 2018 event.

On the even of MWC 2018 tech show in Barcelona, TCL has unveiled a slew of Alcatel devices including Alcatel 5, Alcatel 3 series, Alcatel 1X Android Go smartphone and two tablets - 1T 7 and 1T 10. We recently saw the Alcatel 3, 1X and 3X smartphones being leaked in the form of official renders. Now, these devices have been announced officially just a few hours before the commencement of the tech show.

The Alcatel smartphones belong to different price points and are priced at different ranges. The common aspect of these smartphones is the presence of a FullView 18:9 display that is claimed to make the devices more compact and easier to hold than before. There is Face Key, a facial recognition technology capable of recording hundreds of biometric data points in less than 30 seconds in the Alcatel 5 and 3 series phones. Also, these phones from Alcatel have a fingerprint sensor at the rear.

TCL has assured that all the 2018 smartphones that it will announce will receive timely Android security updates on a quarterly basis. Now, let's take a look at the details of these Alcatel smartphones from here.

Alcatel 5 is a flagship device with a premium brushed metallic unibody design. The device boasts of a 5.7-inch HD+ IPS display and makes use of an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 chipset paired with 2GB/3GB RAM and 16GB/32GB storage space. There is a microSD card slot supporting up to 128GB additional storage. For imaging, the smartphone has a 12MP rear camera with dual-tone flash, EIS, HDR, slow-motion toggle, and f/2.2 aperture. Up front, there is a dual camera setup with 13MP and 5MP sensors along with LED flash and 120-degree wide-angle lens.

The selfie-centric Alcatel smartphone comes with features such as Social Mode, Social Square, Instant Collage, Photo Booth and more. The other aspects of the device are Bluetooth 4.2, FM Radio, USB Type-C, LTE Cat 4, and a 3000mAh battery. This one ships with Android Nougat and is priced at €229.99 (approx. Rs. 18,300).

The Alcatel 3 series comprises of three mid-range models - 3V, 3X and 3. These devices sport a 2.5D curved contoured glass design instead of a metallic build. The Alcatel 3V is the largest among the trio as it is fitted with a 6-inch 2K display. Under its hood, there is a quad-core MediaTek MT8735A processor paired with 2GB RAM and 16GB/32GB storage that can be expanded up to another 128GB. A 3000mAh battery powers the smartphone that has a 5MP selfie camera with HDR, EIS, and LED flash and dual rear cameras with 12MP and 2MP sensors with PDAD and LED flash. This smartphone also has a USB Type-C port, NFC, and dual SIM card slots.

The Alcatel 3X is slightly smaller than the 3V. It boasts of a 5.7-inch HD+ display and make use of a quad-core MT6739 SoC with 2GB/3GB RAM and 16GB/32GB storage space. This one comprises of a 13MP sensor at its rear with 78.4-degree lens and f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 120-degree wide-angle lens. There are other aspects such as dual-tone flash, HDR and EIS too. Again, it retains the same connectivity features as the 3V except for the lack of the USB Type-C port.

Alcatel 3 is the most compact one in this series. It bestows a 5.5-inch HD+ display and employs a quad-core MediaTeK 6739 SoC coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage space that can be further expanded up to 128GB. The imaging aspects of this one includes a 13MP rear camera with PDAF, LED flash and f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP selfie camera with LED flash. The other goodies on board are NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, dual SIM card slots, a micro USB port, and a 3000mAh battery. Except for the Alcatel 3X running Android Nougat, the other phones are based on Android Oreo.

The Alcatel 3X is priced at €179.99 (approx. Rs. 14,300), Alcatel 3 is priced at €149.99 (approx. Rs. 11,900) and the Alcatel 3V is priced at €189.99 (approx. Rs. 15,200).

 

Alcatel 1X

Alcatel 1X is the company's very first Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphone. The device is the most affordable one priced at €99.99 (approx. Rs. 7,900). The 3G variant of this phone is called Alcatel 3C and is priced at €89.99 (approx. Rs. 7,200). The Android Go smartphone adorns a 5.3-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The device equips a quad-core MediaTek 6739 processor with 1GB/2GB RAM and 16GB storage space that can further be expanded using a microSD card.

For the imaging purposes, the Alcatel 1X has an 8MP or 13MP rear camera with EIS and FHD 1080p video recording support. There is a 5MP selfie camera with dedicated flash as well. The other aspects include Cat. 4 LTE, FM radio, a fingerprint sensor, NFC and dual SIM support.

TCL has also announced two tablets based on Android 8.1 Oreo with the Eye Care mode that will minimize the blue light exposure and Kids Mode with a suite of family-friends kids games. Also, there is a camera app, a drawing app and a parental control panel to set usage limits. The Alcatel 1T 10 has a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display and makes use of 1GB RAM and 16GB storage space that can be expanded further. The is a quad-core MediaTek MT8321 processor, 2MP front and rear cameras, and a 4000mAh battery.

The Alcatel 1T 7 sports a 7-inch IPS display with 1024 x 600 pixels. It has 1GB RAM and 8GB storage space. The imaging aspects are similar to the IT 10 but the battery capacity is lower at 2580mAh. The Alcatel 1T 7 and 1T 10 are priced at €69.99 (approx. Rs. 5,500) and €99.99 (approx. Rs. 7,900).
