IFA 2015: Alcatel OneTouch Pixi First ultra-budget smartphone announced

Alcatel has unveiled an array of new smartphone to cater to consumers across ultra-cheap to low-range to mid-range segments at IFA 2015. After announcing the OneTouch Pop Star and Pop Up smartphones in its new ‘Pop' line-up, the company has added the OneTouch Pixi First Android phone to its product portfolio.

Alcatel OneTouch Pixi First smartphone unveiled at IFA'15

The Pixi First is amongst the lowest of low budget phone that comes with a 4-inch display with a screen resolution of 480x800 pixels, which should work fine for a display of this size. The phone measures in at 9.7mm thick, which as per the company is "amongst the slimmest 4-inch handsets on the market", at this price point. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Spredtrum7731 chipset with 512MB of RAM, and 4 GB of internal storage that can be expanded using a microSD card.

There is a 5-megapixel camera on rear, which is capable of shooting 1080p video. The front flaunts a 2-megapixel fixed focus camera. The phone runs Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, which is outdated but still runs on a majority of smartphones.

In terms of connectivity options, the phone supports dual-SIM, 3G network, and comes with standard connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. The handset runs on a 1450mAh battery that can run for up to 300 hours on standby and offer 7 hours of talk time.

The OneTouch Pixi First comes in a choice of four flashy colors including Soft Slate, Rose Gold, Metal Silver, and Metal Gold. As for its price and availability, the phone will be available soon and is likely to be priced under Rs 6,000.
