Alleged Samsung Galaxy S9 Active spotted with Snapdragon 845, 4GB RAM

It's been only a couple of months since the launch of Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, but the rumor mill has lately been active with the alleged Galaxy S9 Mini. Fresh reports now suggest the company is also working on the Galaxy S9 Active. Just like its predecessors, the smartphone is expected to sport a rugged build and provide better protection.

While we haven't received any official confirmation yet, a screenshot obtained by Ready Tricks suggests a new Samsung phone with model number SM-G893 might be launched in the Q2 2018. The model number of the phone makes us believe that the smartphone is the Samsung Galaxy S9 Active as the Galaxy S8 Active carried the model number SM-G892.

As far as specifications go, the screenshot reveals the alleged Galaxy S9 Active will come with a 5.8-inch display with QHD+ resolution of 1440×2960 pixels. Under the hood, it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, clubbed with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage.

In terms of optics, the smartphone will be equipped with a 12-megapixel rear sensor with dual aperture. Just like the Galaxy S9, the Active variant's main camera will be capable of switching between f/1.5 and f/2.4 aperture. At the front, the Galaxy S9 Active will feature an 8MP selfie camera with the aperture size of f/1.7. The smartphone will be backed by a large 4,000mAh battery, an upgrade over the Galaxy S9.

While this is everything that has been revealed by the screenshot, we can make some educated guess about the smartphone. Active variants usually have some differences in design because of their rugged nature. Presumably, the Galaxy S9 Active will arrive sans the Infinity Display. The smartphone is further expected to withstand floor drops and falls. Moreover, it is likely to be water and dust resistance as well.

In terms of pricing, the Samsung Galaxy S9 Active will probably cost the same as the Galaxy S9. As stated, the South Korean tech giant is also believed to be gearing up for the launch of Galaxy S9 Mini, which has already made its appearance on TENAA certification site earlier this month.
