Android 14 OS Update For Xiaomi Smartphones: MIUI 14 and 15 With Latest Features And Security Patches

Google has released testing builds for Android 14, and Xiaomi appears to be actively taking part in the stability and reliability testing. In fact, MIUI based on Android 14 is already out.

The stable version of Android 14 is expected to arrive this month. Xiaomi has readied MIUI 14 builds based on Android 14 for a few of its smartphones. Let's check which Xiaomi devices already have Android 14-based MIUI and which could get the update in the near future.

Xiaomi Readying MIUI 14 And MIUI 15 With Android 14 OS Update?

Google should release the first stable build of Android 14 OS for smartphones later this month. The search giant's own Pixel smartphones should get Android 14 before all other devices from other manufacturers.

After Google, OEMs and smartphone brands should release a new version of their custom skins based on the latest Android. Xiaomi appears unusually active with the Android 14 adoption.

Several reports indicated Xiaomi could announce MIUI 15, which should be based on Android 14 OS. However, it appears that MIUI 15 will be restricted to China for a few months.

Xiaomi smartphone users need not worry as the company has been actively testing Android 14-based MIUI builds. This means there will be two MIUI versions which will be based on Android 14.

It seems Xiaomi smartphones sold in China will get MIUI 15, while devices sold in India and other regions will get MIUI 14, even though both editions will be based on Android 14.

Android 14-based MIUI 14 OS Update For Select Xiaomi Smartphones Spotted

MIUI builds based on Android 14 have been spotted on the Xiaomi server. As they are named MIUI 14, these builds are meant for "Global" Xiaomi smartphones sold outside China.

Xiaomi has prepared Android 14-based MIUI global builds for Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro, and Xiaomi 13T. Here are the names of the builds:

• Xiaomi 13 - MIUI-V14.0.0.1.UMCMIXM
• Xiaomi 13 Pro - MIUI-V14.0.0.1.UMBMIXM
• Xiaomi 12T - MIUI-V14.0.0.1.ULQMIXM

It is important to note that even though these are available on official Xiaomi servers, these builds are not meant for general distribution. These are experimental builds and are meant for the Xiaomi Mi Pilot program.

Once these builds are thoroughly tested and bugs ironed out, Xiaomi should release MIUI 14 OS update based on Android 14 to the aforementioned smartphones. There should be several more variants populating the official Xiaomi server in the next few weeks.

Xiaomi hasn't confirmed the timeline for the deployment or OTA (Over The Air) update of MIUI 14|15 with Android 14. However, the Redmi Note 12 series, the Redmi 12 series, and the upcoming Redmi 13 smartphones could get Android 14-based MIUI 14 OS before the year ends.
