Android Marshmallow: Xiaomi Mi4, Xiaomi Mi3 and Xiaomi Mi Note to receive Android 6.0 update
Despite running on the latest iteration of MIUI 7 the present crop of flagships including the Mi4 and the Mi Note from Xiaomi's stable still run on the dated Android KitKat (4.4.4). However a new revelation by Xiaomi MIUI Operation Manager on Weibo hints that the things will change soon.
The Weibo post states that Xiaomi will stop all development work on their MIUI ROMs based on Android KitKat (4.4) starting next week. In fact the development team would start working on MIUI ROMs based on Android Marshmallow (6.0).

It is further reported that the Xiaomi Mi4 and the Mi Note will be the first few Xiaomi devices that will be receiving the Marshmallow favour. However it's worth noting that the two year old Xiaomi Mi3 will also be receiving the update acknowledging the fact that both the Mi4 and the Mi3 shares the same source code.
Nevertheless there's still a long way to go before the Android Marshmallow (6.0) ROMs for the aforementioned devices are released. Xiaomi has however mentioned that the new ROMs won't include any update in the MIUI interface.
