Apple 5G Smartphone Might See Marginal Increase In Price: Report
Apple is likely to launch four 5G smartphones in 2020, and there are chances that these devices will be expensive due to the 5G- related components cost. In fact, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects that the company will not significantly increase the price of upcoming devices as compared to the current lineup., reports MacRumors.
According to the report, Kuo believes that 5G components will increase the production cost of the devices from $30 to $100. He said, "Apple instead aims to offset the cost of 5G by reducing its supply chain expenses, potentially including dropping its upfront non-recurring engineering payment to suppliers of the redesigned metal chassis and frame for 5G iPhones."
He said, "Non-recurring engineering refers to the one-time cost to research, design, develop, and test a new product or component. Apple will shift more of this research and development in the house."
On the other hand, a recent report by JP Morgan pointed out that Apple iPhone 12 is likely to be 50 percent smaller and thinner than the current iPhones. The company's analyst Samik Chatterjee believes that the devices will feature 5.4- inch, 6.1 -inch display, and the last one is likely to come with a 5G connectivity that will feature a 6.7-inch screen.
He also predicts that Apple will launch two high-end and two low-end models. The two high-end smartphones will feature 6.1-inch and a 6.7-inch display,triple-lens camera, and augmented reality capabilities. While, the other two are likely to come up with a 6.1-inch and 5.4-inch screen, dual-lens camera. Besides, he expects that next year's launch will be the biggest launch ever by the company.
On the other hand, the company might bring iPhone SE2 soon. But this time the company would name it as iPhone 9, reports Japanese blog Mac Otakara. The firm says that the device will come with a 4.7-inch display, 3GB RAM, and a touch fingerprint reader.
