Apple, the tech giant, has made a significant announcement that bolsters the value proposition of their iPhone 14 series.
In November 2022, the company introduced an innovative feature called Emergency SOS via satellite, designed to connect users with emergency services even in places outside the coverage of cellular and Wi-Fi connections.

Initially offered for free for two years, the company has decided to extend this lifesaving feature for an additional year for iPhone 14 users at no extra cost.
The extension of the free trial is applicable for iPhone 14 users who have activated their device in countries that support the Emergency SOS via Satellite feature before 12 am PT (1:30 am IST) on November 15, 2023.
Currently, the feature is available in several countries including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, the UK, and the US. However, there is no confirmation yet on when this feature will be available in India.
Additional Features and Extensions
Apple's commitment to user safety extends beyond the Emergency SOS feature. The company also introduced the Roadside Assistance via satellite feature in the US, enabling car owners to connect with AAA roadside assistance in regions without cellular and Wi-Fi coverage.
Furthermore, the Emergency SOS via satellite service has also been extended to iPhone 15 users in 16 countries and regions. The company is continually expanding the feature's reach, with recent additions including Spain and Switzerland.
Commitment to Safety
Apple's extension of the Emergency SOS via satellite feature underlines the company's commitment to user safety. By providing this potentially lifesaving service at no additional cost, Apple is demonstrating a clear focus on customer welfare.
As Apple continues to innovate and expand its services, users can expect to see more such features that enhance the overall iPhone experience. While there is still no word on when this feature will be available in India, Indian iPhone users eagerly anticipate its arrival.
