Apple today introduced iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus the best, most advanced iPhone ever, packed with unique innovations that are set to improve all the ways iPhone is used every day.

Apple has stepped up its smartphone game with the new iPhone 8 series

The company during the launch stated that the new iPhone features new advanced camera systems that take pictures like never before, more power and performance with the best battery life ever on an iPhone, immersive stereo speakers, wide color system from camera to display, two new beautiful finishes, and yet again water and dust resistant feature.

"iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus dramatically improves every aspect of the iPhone experience, reaching a new level of innovation and precision to make this the best iPhone we have ever made," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

"The completely redesigned cameras shoot incredible photos and videos day or night, the A11 Bionic chip is the most powerful chip on any smartphone while delivering the best battery life ever in an iPhone, and an entirely new stereo speaker system provides twice the sound, all within the first water and dust resistant iPhone."

Design

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus comes in a gorgeous design in Silver, Gold, and Space Gray finishes and introduces all-new materials for the build. The new iPhone has been developed using "super strong formula" basically the smartphone has been made of aerospace-grade aluminum, designed with a seven-layer color process featuring a 50-percent deeper strengthening layer, and the iPhones have a glass design reinforced by steel.

"An entirely re-engineered enclosure results in a water resistant iPhone offering protection like never before against spills, splashes, and dust."

The new iPhone 8 series comes with a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screens and features the brightest, most colorful Retina HD display ever in an iPhone, now with a wide color gamut for cinema-standard colors, greater color saturation, and better color management.

The solid-state Home button is present on the iPhone 8 series and has yet again been designed to be durable and responsive, and working in tandem with the new Taptic Engine, provides more precise and customizable tactile feedback.

Under the Hood

The new custom-designed Apple A11 Bionic chip features a new architecture that powers these innovations, making it the most powerful chip ever in a smartphone, while also getting more time between charges with the longest battery life ever in an iPhone.

The A11 Bionic's CPU now has four cores, seamlessly integrating two high-performance cores that run up to 25 percent faster than iPhone 7, and four high-efficiency cores that are capable of running 70 percent faster than the A10 chip. Graphics performance is also more powerful, running up to 30 percent faster than iPhone 7 series enabling a new level of gaming and professional apps.

The device also comes with a second generation performance control feature that optimizes the performance of the new phones.

Cameras

iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus take the world's most popular camera and make it even better with entirely new camera systems. The 12-megapixel camera includes optical image stabilization on both iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, and a larger ƒ/1.8 aperture and 6-element lens enable brighter, more detailed photos and videos, and a wide color capture allows for more vibrant colors with more detail.

iPhone 8 Plus features the same 12-megapixel wide angle camera on the back that comes with f1.8 and f2.8 apertures as iPhone 8 and adds a 12-megapixel telephoto camera that together offers optical zoom at two times and up to 10 times digital zoom for photos. The smartphones also get the Quad LED True Tone flash.

The dual cameras on the 8 Plus also come with a new "Portrait Lighting" feature that adjusts the lighting for portrait shots. Further, Apple said that the improvements are applicable to video as well. Apple iPhone 8 and 8 Plus support 4K/60fps videos. Slow motion videos now support up to 1080p resolution at 240fps, doubling the iPhone 8's 120fps option.

Other Announcements

iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus come with iOS 10, but the company has said that the devices will get the new iOS 11 update starting September 19. In addition, the iPhone 8 now supports wireless charging. Apple will be using Qi open wireless standard for charging and it means that any certified Qi accessories will work with the iPhone 8.

Further, Apple has said that the new iPhone 8 series is the first smartphone designed for augmented reality, with cameras calibrated for AR, along with a new gyroscope and accelerometer for better motion tracking.

Pricing and Availability

iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be available in two storage models which include 64GB and 256GB and will be up for preorder on September 15 and available to buy on September 22. The iPhone 8 is coming at a starting price of $699 (approximately Rs. 44,741) for 64GB whereas the iPhone 8 Plus will be retailing at $799 (approximately Rs. 51,141) and more.
