Apple Increases Battery Replacement Costs For iPhone 13 and Older Models
Apple has increased battery replacement costs for iPhone 13 and older models globally, effective March 1. Apple Care+ subscribers can replace the batteries of their older iPhones at no additional cost, with caveats included. The hike in battery replacement is for the iPhone 13, iPhone 12, iPhone 11, and iPhone X lineups.
iPhone Battery Replacement Becomes More Expensive
Apple has hiked the battery replacement costs for iPhone 13 and older models by $20 (roughly ₹1,600), so the battery replacement for older iPhones will cost $89 (roughly ₹7,300). Earlier, this replacement price was $69 (roughly ₹5,700).

Apple Care+ subscribers, however, can replace their batteries of older iPhones if the battery health reduces by 80% of its original capacity. This covers all models of iPhones, including the latest ones.
According to the company's support page, users are required to pay for the additional cost on out-of-warranty models such as the iPhone 13, iPhone 12, iPhone 11, and iPhone X lineups. Apple used to charge $69 for battery replacements for these iPhones.
Similarly, battery replacement costs for the iPhone SE, iPhone 8, and other older models now cost $89. Earlier, this cost $49 (roughly ₹4,000). Apple provides battery replacements for models as old as the iPhone 5 launched in 2012.
Furthermore, battery replacement for the latest iPhone 14 models costs a little higher at $99 (roughly ₹8,000).
In other news, Apple is rolling out the iOS 16.4 Beta 2 for developers, which offers an improved 5G standalone experience. The beta also includes new features such as new icons and extended eSIM support.
The Cupertino giant is expected to release the next version of the iPhone, presumably the iPhone 15, in September this year, with the Dynamic Island feature extending to the base models and the company's proprietary Lightning port replaced by a USB-C connector.
