Apple iOS 27 Could Bring ChatGPT-Style Siri, Smarter Camera Features and App Redesigns

Apple is set to reveal iOS 27 on June 8, and the update is expected to focus strongly on Siri and design. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reports that Siri will act more like a chatbot, while several core apps will gain new layouts and controls.

In iOS 27, Siri will run on Google's Gemini models and sit inside the Dynamic Island interface. Users will be able to switch between Siri’s own models and services such as ChatGPT. Apple is also preparing a separate Siri app, which will appear on the Home Screen.

iOS 27 Camera App and Siri Features

The camera app in iOS 27 is reportedly becoming far more flexible, letting users adjust its layout. People will be able to pick which tools show on screen and decide their position. Options include flash, exposure, timer, night mode, Live Photos and even resolution controls.

A new Siri option will appear inside the camera alongside the usual photo and video modes. This Siri mode will use Visual Intelligence to recognise objects in view through the lens or translate printed or digital text. The feature aims to turn the camera into a quick information tool.

iOS 27 Design Changes

Siri’s appearance will change across iOS 27, and system search will also get a new look. Gurman says Apple is planning "noticeable design changes" for apps such as Safari, Image Playground and Weather. These updates sit alongside fresh animations and "redesigned tab bars" across the system.

According to Gurman, the visual tweaks "are meant to streamline the Liquid Glass design language". Safari will show a new start page with four tabs running across the top. These tabs will display favourites, bookmarks, a reading list of saved articles and a record of browsing history.

iOS 27 Core Apps and Layout Updates

The Weather app in iOS 27 will gain a Conditions panel on each city’s main screen. This panel will highlight key details at a glance for that location. Image Playground is being overhauled as well, with Apple giving the creative tool a completely redesigned interface.

All these reported changes, from the Siri overhaul and camera customisation to the updated Safari, Weather and Image Playground apps, are expected to arrive together with iOS 27 after the June 8 announcement, marking a broad interface refresh across Apple’s mobile software.
