Apple iPhone 15 And Plus Models Camera Specifications Tipped Again: Upgraded 48MP Primary Lens For All?

Apple iPhone iOS smartphones have traditionally packed comparatively humble lenses, but that could change with the iPhone 15 series, suggests the latest leak. Apple is embedding a large 48MP lens and it will serve as the primary camera even in the entry-level Apple iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus, claims analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

The Apple iPhone 15 series should include the base iPhone 15, the mid-level iPhone 15 Pro, and the top-end iPhone 15 Pro Max. An increasing number of reports suggest there could be two more iOS smartphones in the series: iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro Ultra. Let's look at the latest leaks which claim significantly upgraded camera modules and the bumped-up prices.

iPhone 15 | Plus Models Primary Camera Models Specifications Leaked

The upcoming iPhone 15 will feature a 48MP wide-angle lens, Kuo claims. This new camera will be a standard feature right from the base or "standard models" of the iPhone 15 range. This means even the entry-level Apple iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus could have a 48MP primary camera.

Recent reports have suggested that Apple is going to play the Megapixel game that Android smartphone manufacturers have been playing for a long time. However, Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station recently claimed that even though the base models of the iPhone 15 series will feature a 48MP camera, they will pack a smaller 1/1.5 inches sensor.

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus have a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 12MP main camera and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. Hence, the 48MP lens would be a serious upgrade. Moreover, even the rumored 1/1.5 inches sensor would be bigger than the iPhone 14's 1/1.7 inches sensor.

iPhone 15 Series iOS Smartphones Prices Leaked

An analyst at Barclays recently revealed the starting price of all four iPhone models. If these prices are accurate, except for the entry-level iPhone 15 and even the iPhone 15 Plus, all the iOS smartphones in the iPhone 15 series will be more expensive than the iPhone 14 models.

As the rumors claim Apple won't increase the price of the entry-level iPhone 15, the Apple iPhone 15 could cost $799 (approx. ₹65,500) and the iPhone 15 Plus could be priced at $899 (approx. ₹73,700).

The iPhone 15 Pro is likely to have a price increase of up to $100 compared to the iPhone 14 Pro, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max could be $100 to $200 more expensive than the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

If the leaked prices are accurate, the smaller iPhone 15 Pro model could be launched for $1099 (approx. ₹90,100) in India, while the top-of-the-line iPhone could have a starting price of $1299 (₹1,06,500).
