5 more days until the official launch of the most anticipated smartphone of 2017 the Apple iPhone 8 (or iPhone edition / iPhone X). While most of the details will be revealed during the launch event, leaks and rumors have just been flooding the internet.
And while the trend of leaking details has become very common, today we have come across a report from German website Macerkopf. The report notes that German carriers are now gearing up for a September 15 pre-order date and a September 22 release date.
And the dates given in the report seem to be on the spot. Well, we say this because going by the company's history, for the past five years to be exact, Apple's September iPhone-centric launch events generally follow the same pattern. It involves, a launch event in the first week, followed by pre-orders, and then an official release of the smartphone approximately 10 days later.
So after doing some basic calculations and comparison, Apple has mostly opened up pre-orders for new iPhone models on the Friday following its special media event. So as the iPhone 8 launch event is set for September 12, it is pretty much obvious that the pre-orders for the device will open up at the end of next week on Friday, September 15 at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time.
And again following pre-orders, the new handset will most likely be released on Friday, September 22, with shipments going out to customers who have ordered the device. At the same time, the new device should be available in-stores as well on the same day.
From all this, we can conclude that Apple does tend to follow a specific September pattern. But we would like to also add that since there is no official word from the company we are speculating other possibilities as well if Apple deviates from the normal pattern.
Apple will unveil the new iPhone 8 at an event which is happening at the company's Apple Park campus. An iPhone 7s, 7s Plus, LTE Apple Watch, and 4K Apple TV are also expected to be unveiled at the event.
