Apple iPhone 8 will ship in limited quantities and prices will be high: Starts at approx Rs. 64,122
Korean parts supplier has stated that it started shipments for Apple iPhone parts only in late August.
Apple is all set to unveil its new flagship the iPhone 8 next week on September 12 and the company has already sent out media invites for the launch event.
However, as the iPhone launch is scheduled for the 12, the official release of the handset might take some more time. Besides, since the design process may have been completed, but the production as per some reports is just beginning or the smartphone has just entered the production stage.
In fact, Korean parts supplier has stated that it started shipments for Apple iPhone parts only in late August. Well, it could mean that the new flagship may come out only after October. Further, Apple's new iPhone 8 could also be made in limited number about 2 to 4 million at first.
Apple is also rumored to launch three variants of the new iPhone, including one OLED model. Besides, industry sources predict the OLED model release could be delayed to November. "Even if the OLED iPhone is launched in September, it will be available in an extremely limited quantity," said an un-named source while talking to The Investor.
On the bright side, previous reports have also suggested that the parts supply for the two LCD models started from June. So it could be that the two iPhone models will likely hit the market immediately after the launch. The launch volume of the iPhone 8 model is still mysterious but it has been rumored to be low compared to the iPhone 7s.
As for the parts supplier, Samsung Display is supplying all of the OLED panels for the iPhone 8, while LG Display is one of the key suppliers of LCD screens for the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus models.
