The tenth-anniversary edition iPhone dubbed the iPhone X is finally official. Apple just unveiled this new model at the event that was held at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park in Cupertino, California.
Apple claims that the iPhone X will shape up the next decade of the smartphone industry. The iPhone X pronounced as iPhone Ten features a glass and stainless build with the durable Surgical grade aluminum build. The device has been unveiled in Space Gray and Silver color variants. The highlight of this device is its Super Retina Display, which is an OLED panel.
The iPhone X is the first one from the company to use an OLED display panel. The screen size is 5.8 inches and the OLED technology gives a fluid user experience. The resolution of the Super Retina display is 2436 x 1125 pixels and 458 ppi pixel density. The edge-to-edge display is too smooth and has the best color accuracy. You can just tap on the screen to wake up the screen. It features the the True Tone display technology and 3D Touch as the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.
The Apple iPhone X is powered by the new A11 Bionic. It is said to be the most powerful chipset to be used by any smartphone launched ever. It is 70% improvement in intense workloads. This processor is teamed up with the new Apple GPU that can handle high quality gaming. The GPU gives 30% faster performance at half the power than the A10. The new generation image signal processing technique supported by the Apple A11 gives improved pixel processing, faster light light images and multi-band noise reduction.
The iPhone X comes with 12MP dual cameras with f/1.8 aperture on the wide-angle camera and f/2.4 aperture on the telephoto lens. The camera comes with Quad-LED True Tone flash for photos with low noise. The dual camera setup has vertically placed lenses unlike the horizontal arrangement on the iPhone 8 Plus. There is a great Portrait mode feature it supports the Portrait Lighting that will let you change the light on the portrait and not a filter.
The cameras at the rear are calibrated for augmented reality and accurate motion tracking. It becomes the very first smartphone from Apple to be customized for AR. The AR implementations were demonstrated with games. The live AR game demo was also displayed on the stage at the event.
The selfie camera on the iPhone X is the TrueDepth camera with the ability to click Portrait mode photos with Portrait Lighting as well.
There is no home button at the front as speculated earlier on the iPhone X. You need to swipe up from the bottom to go to the home screen. You need to press the button at the side to talk to Siri on the iPhone X. You just need to look at the phone to unlock your phone with the new feature called Face ID as it recognizes you. It is possible with the Apple A11 Bionic's neural engine. The TrueDepth camera system comes with an IR camera that takes an IR image.
Notably, the Face ID will learn your face even if your hair style is changed or if you wear a hat or glasses. It cannot be spoofed by photos, claims the company. If your eyes are closed or if you are looking away, your phone will not be unlocked. It also authenticates Apple Pay and other third-party apps.
The iPhone 10 comes with the new Emoji feature called animoji that can be controlled with your face. It supports face authentication by using the TrueDepth camera. It is possible to use whatever reaction you want as the phone will start identifying your face and create stickers for you that you can share. You can also record a message with your favorite emoji and send the same and it will appear within your message.
The Apple iPhone X is said to come with a good battery that can last hours more than that of the iPhone 7. It also supports wireless charging as the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. To make the wireless charging experience better, the AirPower charger lets you wirelessly charge three devices.
