For those who are not aware, a portion of proceeds for all (PRODUCT)RED purchases go directly to Global Fund HIV/AIDS grants that provide testing
Apple has announced the launch of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition. Both models sport a Red glass enclosure with a matching aluminum band and a Black front. The Red colored iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be available to order online in select countries and regions from today and in stores beginning on April 13.
"This special edition (PRODUCT)RED iPhone features a stunning red and black colour combination and also offers customers the opportunity to make an impact in fighting the spread of HIV and AIDS," stated Greg Joswiak, Apple's vice president of Product Marketing.
For those who are not aware, a portion of proceeds for all (PRODUCT)RED purchases go directly to Global Fund HIV/AIDS grants that provide testing. Since partnering with (RED) in 2006, Apple claims to have donated more than $160 million to the Global Fund.
"Today's announcement is further evidence of Apple's leadership in and commitment to the AIDS fight since the beginning of (RED) in 2006," said Deborah Dugan, (RED)'s CEO.
As far as the pricing is concerned, the iPhone 8 (PRODUCT) RED would cost Rs. 67,940 for the 64GB storage variant, and Rs. 81,500 for the 256GB storage variant. Whereas the iPhone 8 Plus (PRODUCT) RED comes with a price tag of 77,560 for the 64GB model, and Rs. 91,110 for the 256GB model. Do note that in India, the Red colored iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be available in May.
Just to recall, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus feature glass and aluminum design, Retina HD display, and A11 Bionic chip. The iPhone 8 comes with a 12MP rear camera and a 7MP front camera. The iPhone 8 Plus, on the other hand, is equipped with a dual rear camera setup comprising of two 12MP sensors. The camera has Portrait Mode, and both the sensors have image stabilization.
Besides this, Apple has also launched a new (PRODUCT) RED iPhone X Leather Folio, which will be available though the company's authorized resellers at a price point of Rs. 7,900.
