Apple May Launch iPhone 17e in 2026, Continuing Its Budget iPhone Lineup
Apple seems to be making a serious commitment to its more affordable iPhone lineup. A report from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) suggests that the iPhone 17e could arrive in early 2026, just a year after the launch of the iPhone 16e.
This move is a clear departure from Apple’s previous approach to budget iPhones. The iPhone SE models launched every two to three years, making them feel like occasional afterthoughts rather than a consistent part of Apple’s lineup. By giving the “e” models a yearly refresh, Apple is signaling that these devices are now a core part of the iPhone family rather than a side project.

What to Expect From the iPhone 17e
Apple hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet, but based on how the iPhone 16e was positioned, we can make some educated guesses about what its successor might offer.
The iPhone 16e, launched last week, was essentially a very toned-down version of the standard iPhone 16, featuring an A18 chipset, Apple Intelligence support, and an iPhone 14-style notch design. This suggests that the iPhone 17e might follow a similar pattern—borrowing select hardware features from the iPhone 17.
Another question is whether Apple will tweak the pricing of the “e” models. The iPhone 16e starts at ₹59,900 for the 128GB variant, which is significantly higher than the last iPhone SE, which launched at ₹43,900. That price jump has raised concerns about whether the “e” models can truly be considered budget-friendly. If Apple wants to make the iPhone 17e a bigger success, it might need to either lower the price or pack in more features to justify the cost.
Will the iPhone 17e Be a Hit?
The iPhone 17e’s success will depend on how well the iPhone 16e performs. If sales are strong, Apple will likely stick to the yearly cycle. But many believe the “e” line won’t take off unless Apple either lowers the price or adds more features. If the 16e struggles, Apple may have to rethink its approach.
For now, the idea of a yearly “e” iPhone is an interesting shift in Apple’s strategy. Whether it becomes a long-term success or just another short-lived experiment, we’ll have to wait and see.
