Apple sued for Rs. 1 Lakh for allegedly selling a defective iPhone to a lawyer in India
The victim identified as BS Prasad who is the legal counselor for the Telangana State Medical and Health Department has said that the device would automatically switch off and did not boot properly.
A brand new iPhone gone defective? Well, normally you would expect Apple products to be top notch and that they come with a quality finish in terms of hardware and software. While Apple devices are known to be performance gadgets, an advocate from Hyderabad has now reportedly filed a complaint against the Cupertino based company for selling him a faulty device.
According to India Times, the case has been lodged in the district consumer forum against Apple for allegedly selling him a defective iPhone. The person identified as BS Prasad who is the legal counselor for the Telangana State Medical and Health department and apparently the victim has said that he had bought his iPhone 6 from Aptronix store at Himayatnagar.
He narrated that the device would automatically switch off and further had booting issues. He then approached Aptronix store, but he was asked to take the case to the service center at Banjara Hills.
Prasad's lawyer, K Jagdish, in a statement has said that the employees at the service center failed to identify the problem and repair the device. The employees further accepted that it was a faulty device. The service center employees refused to replace the device and asked him to wait 15 days while they sent the device to Bangalore for further inspection.
Meanwhile, Prasad also said that he tried calling Apple Customer support and they instructed him to forcefully boot the device and reinstall iTunes, but nothing happened. Everything seemed to be going in circles as the customer support also advised him to try another service center at Moosarambagh.
Failing to achieve the desired result, Prasad then issued Apple with a legal notice stating they either send a replacement unit or refund the Rs 30,700 he paid for the device, as well as 24 percent interest. In addition, he is also demanding a compensation of Rs. 1 lakh for his mental trauma and the loss of business due to not having his phone. Prasad is now awaiting the final verdict on November 8, where he is hoping to get some good news for all the troubles that he has gone through.
