Upcoming Apple iPhones will be expensive; Apple might stick to Samsung OLEDs

In 2017 Apple joined hands with Samsung for making first OLED panel smartphone -yes the iPhone X. The company is likely to stick with the same deal for the upcoming 2018's iPhones. Earlier there is the report which claims that Apple is approaching LG for the OLED panels and will ditch Samsung in the middle.

But the latest report suggests that Samsung will still hold the back of the Apple for manufacturing OLED panel instead of LG. A report from the WSJ and other sources is claiming that LG is facing a tough time for reaching Apple's OLED panel requirements. "manufacturing problems have caused it to fall behind the schedule that many suppliers follow before beginning mass production for iPhones, " the report stated.

Apple was planning to kick off its latest iPhone's manufacturing covered in July. But LG was unable to fulfil the demand and it ends up to be the second supplier company to Apple. And Samsung becomes the primary manufacturer and the only last choice for the OLED panel supplier for the upcoming iPhone.

"LG is a leading manufacturer of the large OLED panels used in TVs, but is struggling to master the different approaches needed for phone-sized panels," WSJ quoted its sources.

Apple has been deliberately requesting LG to start the production of the third round of prototype for the 2018's iPhone. But the company seems to be struggling hard in ensuring the manufacturing problems won't delay the launch of the iPhones.

Last year the iPhone X was the delay because of insufficient Face ID recognition. However, if Apple will still keep Samsung as a primary supplier of the OLED panels, then Apple has to keep the price of the iPhone expensive. As we all know Samsung OLED panels are the one who played a big role in increasing the price soo much.

That was the only reason Apple turned to LG for making their OLED panel. LG manufactured OLED panel is much cheaper than the Samsung one, and Apple was planning to make the iPhones available at a lesser price.
