ASUS ROG Phone 9 FE with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 185Hz Display, and 50MP Cameras Launched
ASUS has introduced the ROG Phone 9 FE in Thailand without much fanfare, following the launch of the ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro last November. The new model retains much of the core gaming experience but opts for slightly different internals to bring the price down.
While it lacks the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip found in the standard ROG Phone 9, it still packs high-end gaming features and a premium build.

Key Features: High Refresh Rate Display and Gaming-Centric Performance
The ROG Phone 9 FE sports a 6.78-inch Full HD+ LTPO AMOLED display, supporting HDR10+, a peak brightness of 2,500 nits, and an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. Gamers, however, have the option to boost it up to 165Hz in system settings or even 185Hz within Game Genie for a smoother experience. The panel is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, making it more durable against drops and scratches.
Under the hood, ASUS has opted for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. While it's not the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite, the Gen 3 processor still delivers flagship-grade performance for demanding mobile gamers.
Camera and Battery
The camera setup remains consistent with the standard ROG Phone 9, featuring a 50MP Sony IMX890 primary sensor with gimbal OIS stabilization, a 13MP ultra-wide camera, and a 5MP macro sensor. On the front, there's a 32MP selfie camera, which outputs 8MP images through pixel binning for enhanced low-light performance.
For power, the device packs a 5,500mAh battery with support for 65W fast wired charging and 15W wireless charging. While the battery is slightly smaller than the 5,800mAh unit in the ROG Phone 9, it still offers ample endurance for long gaming sessions.
Additional Features
Gaming-centric features like AirTrigger shoulder controls enhance gameplay, and the AniMe Mini-LED (85 dots) programmable matrix on the back adds customization options. Connectivity is future-proof with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC, while IP68 water and dust resistance ensures durability. The phone weighs 225g and measures 163.8 x 76.8 x 8.9 mm, maintaining a premium yet sturdy feel.
Pricing and Availability
The ASUS ROG Phone 9 FE comes in Phantom Black and is priced at THB 29,990 (~₹77,475 approx.) in Thailand. While it misses out on the Snapdragon 8 Elite, a larger battery, and 512GB storage found in the standard ROG Phone 9, it still offers a solid gaming experience at a more accessible price.
As of now, there's no word on its availability in India.
