Asus to unveil Zenfone 5 line of smartphones at the MWC 2018
The company will be launching a plethora of devices at the MWC 2018.
Asus seems to be gearing up to showcase it's Zenfone 5 range of smartphones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 later this month. The company is expected to launch a slew of devices under the new lineup, but the model names are still under the curtains.
Now, a new leak from the Chinese media claims that the company might be unveiling the standard Zenfone 5, Zenfone 5Z and an entry-level Zenfone Max Pro (M1) is also on the cards. The company will be unveiling the Zenfone 5 and the Zenfone 5 max Pro at the MWC 2018, while the flagship Zenfone 5z will launch sometime in June 2018.
The leaked image shows a presentation slide, and the report says that the mid-range Zenfone 5 will have a Snapdragon 636 SoC at its heart and it could be the first to feature the new chipset.
The previously launched Zenfone 4 lineup has a Snapdragon 630 and Snapdragon 660 variant, so the company is expected to go with the new Snapdragon 636 chipset itself.
If the company continues its tradition of launching smartphones, we might see a bigger variant with the unannounced Snapdragon 670 chipset. Qualcomm is also expected to showcase the Snapdragon 670 at MWC 2018, so Asus might be the first manufacturer to incorporate the mid-range processor on its smartphone.
The flagship Zenfone 5z is tipped for a June 2018 launch. The device is said to be powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor, just like its contemporaries. Asus is touting the standard Zenfone 5 range as 'Premium Luxury,' while the Zenfone 5Z is termed as the 'Ultimate Luxury.' Other features of the flagship might include 8GB of Ram and a dual camera setup. Besides, the Zenfone Max Pro could be the same as the Zenfone Max Plus (M1)smartphone, launched a few months ago.
All the new Zenfone 5 smartphones are expected to come with 18:9 display with minimal bezels, followed by a comparatively large chin.
Another smartphone from the Asus ZenFone 5 series has been leaked by famed tipster Evan Blass through via Twitter. The leak comes in the form of a render of the ZenFone 5 Lite along with some key specifications. That said, the device could launch with a different moniker if the company follows its unusual naming. In any case, the device will be stripped down version of the ZenFone 5, in terms of specs and features.
