Asus Zenfone 2 series officially confirmed to receive Marshmallow Update, no timeline though


Asus recently announced that five of its smartphones will receive an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. These phones are the Asus ZenFone 2, the Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe / Special Edition, the ZenFone 2 Laser, the ZenFone Selfie and the Asus Padfone S. It also means that its only the above phones which will receive these updates, any other phone is unlikely to receive the updates.

While other smartphones have begun to receive updates as Smartphone owners are enjoying the new Marshmallow update. The announcement was officially made on the company's own discussion forums. However, there is no official date on when the ZenFone 2 series is likely to receive the updates. Also, there is no details if the updates will bring Asus's own set of features like an improved UI or any added features from Asus.

The new Android 6.0 Marshmallow update comes with numerous improvements from its successor, the Android 51. Lollipop. The new features include a more more secure app system, an improved Google Now as well as support for fingerprint sensors. The new Marshmallow upgrade also brings support for microSD cards.

Asus ZenFone 2 owners should be excited about the new update their phones will receive in the coming days or months.
